if anyone needs anything timed for the season hmu, flat $5 usd for a standard length half hour episode and 24 hr delivery(ish?) depending of complexity. i do toku but anything is fine
ignishikari#7784 i'm at the top of the @overtimesubs discord too for ease of convenience
some warm takes while I still got the twitter window open
- the Greater Toku Twitter Community needs to accept they're an international community beyond USA, and the nuance that comes with it
- Please do support the official releases if it's within your capacity to do so!
as someone who's legally barred from watching The New Toku Release, this lionizing of the Kiss-sites as some sort of champions for the poor ostracized non-american audiences is fucking funny to me
To play devil's advocate here re:grongi, Kuuga syndication has included Grongi subs before (they're just not burned to the video). Here's the captions on kitsunekko for ep 1, the grongi is highlighted in parentheses. These captions were sourced from a ToeiCh Tv broadcast.
For what it's worth, I think people should really be looking at the video quality instead. That stuff looks dire, not asking for 4k Ultra HD or anything on streaming here, but it really kills a lot of the atmosphere :\
This honestly really sucks for the non-english speakers
and also, sadly, most of them won't care where their subs come from as long as they're there :\
Sure hoping Toei isn't about to apply Viki's subtitling "model" to their tokusatsu properties
Please pay actual contractors who can provide a quality service for fans
Toei enabled community subs for their videos
For what it's worth: I would bet a decent amount of money that Toei will provide all english subs for the shows in the future, but any other languages will have to settle with crowdsourced subs. English subs are locked to publisher.
bright side: while english translations are locked by the publisher, it seems the descriptions aren't
so at least someone could fix the engrish on most of them lol
@nemetfox @toku_gami @lynxaraV3 crowdsourced subs will absolutely not work if there isn't an english base
for as much as Toei seems to believe in youtube as a viable product, even they have to know people aren't exactly super dying to translate full episodes of Ipanema into english for free
