Today's @WBC_Libraries teen creative writing sessions were on mystery and detective stories. The group all wrote sections of a chain mystery story about a theft aboard a luxury yacht. Chloe and Hibba won a book giveaway for writing the best story chapters in the sessions!

Today's @WBC_Libraries teen creative writing sessions covered slice of life writing. The group wrote scenes of a character's daily life, exploring their emotions and relationships. Highlights included a time traveller trapped in the past and a lonely student's self reflections!

Today's @WBC_Libraries teen creative writing sessions explored the topic of characters arcs. The group wrote scenes where a character changed perspective. Highlights included a grouchy mentor forming a strong bond with their student and bully humblying ask their victim for help!

Today's @WBC_Libraries teen creative writing sessions were on psychological thrillers. The group drew an example of manipulative behaviour from a hat and used it to write their own scenes. Ruby and Cas won a book giveaway for writing the best stories in the sessions!

Today's @WBC_Libraries teen creative writing sesions covered board game and card game writing, with guest speaker @QuakerDissent from @DissentGames. The group wrote their own games on a prompt from a hat. Highlights were a risk/reward bumblebee game and a circus betrayal game!
Some good news - Igniting Writing has partnered with Alice Sutherland-Hawes Literary, a childrens and young adult literary agency, to support their market research. In return, they're offering us books as competition prizes and maybe even some guest speakers at future sessions!
Attended the @UniofReading and @ReadingUniSU Celebration of Volunteering 2026 event today - a really enriching evening. Igniting Writing volunteering was featured for the Centenary Long Service Award and shortlisted for the Staff Volunteer of the Year Award!
Some positive news - Igniting Writing has teamed up with Nina Douglas PR! We'll offer book reviews and promotion, whilst they will provide us with books as competition prizes (and maybe even some sneak peaks of future releases!). Thanks to Nina for setting up the collaboration!
