Lisa’s Korean language teacher at YG once shared that, in the beginning, Lisa mostly spoke English with the other trainees, so her Korean didn't improve very quickly. The teacher suggested to her manager that Lisa should only speak Korean, and the company agreed. Since Lisa couldn’t rely on English anymore, she felt frustrated and started pushing herself to study Korean harder. Within six months, she had reached an intermediate level.

“We did Korean classes 4 times a week. Lisa really only spoke Korean. So within only 6 months, she moved up to intermediate level. This is really great because usually it is more difficult for Thai speaking learners, because there’s less similarities in terms of vocabulary, grammar and structure. So I suppose it must have been hard for her back then, because there were 4 textbooks, 4 workbooks, the vocabulary book and on top of that there was homework”

Seriously, this happened during one of my classes. I had just come back from lunch, and I was teaching in the afternoon. She looked really sleepy - especially during writing class. She would often doze off during essay writing sessions. Then, while she was half asleep, she suddenly said, “Ah... Teacher, Chaeyoung has started”. She said it unconsciously, without even realizing it. I remember thinking,
“Okay, that’s it. She’s basically Korean now.” That’s honestly what went through my mind.
