Norwegian chess grandmaster and world leader Magnus Carlsen has publicly called for Russia and Belarus to remain banned from international chess competitions. He made this statement during a ceremony where he was awarded the title of the greatest chess player in history.

Carlsen remarked:

“I believe Kasparov had a better career than me. I understand why I received this award, but he deserves it more. In honor of Garry, I will say this: he would advise against reinstating the Russian and Belarusian chess federations. And I stand by that.”

Earlier, Babur Tolbaev, president of the Kyrgyzstan Chess Federation, suggested allowing teams from Russia and Belarus back into competitions. However, Carlsen firmly opposed this, supporting the sanctions and insisting that occupiers remain isolated.

This is the way Russia will be forced to stop its war on Ukraine.

Not with begging, or thinking about "saving Putin's face," or "giving him another chance," or twisting Ukraine's arms for "compromises for peace," or protecting the Russian airbases from Ukrainian attacks, or surrendering to Putin's endless nuclear extortion, or with absurd exercises in "escalation management" or "not wanting to spoil future relations with the Kremlin".

This is the only way, and Ukraine is doing it right now.
