Mostly Black girls here (6-16). Participating in STEM AND computing AND hip hop. We asked them to make space, to take space, and create a space for others. They created an interactive computational hip hop block party.

@NGSS_tweeps Jokes can often be perceived as disruptive or off task but they are an integral part of arguments in many Ss home and community lives. As educators we could stop and ask what in the joke is related to the conversation and how. #NGSSpractice
@IllestLab using sneaker deconstruction to help young people see themselves as STEM doers. A good example of meeting youth where they are and pushing them to think more deeply. And these weren’t bobos they were working with either! Expensive taste over there!
