Legendary Finnish actress and VA Seela Sella has passed away at 89, bringing to a close an extraordinary career that stretched across more than six decades of theater, film, television and voice acting.

For animation fans, Sella became especially memorable through the Finnish-language versions of beloved films and series. Her unmistakable voice brought to life Yzma in The Emperor’s New Groove, Lady Tremaine in Cinderella, the Witch in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Magica De Spell in DuckTales, Grandma Fa in Mulan, Dowager Empress Marie in Anastasia, Mad Madam Mim in The Sword in the Stone, Tanana in Brother Bear, the Queen in A Bug’s Life, Madame Adelaide in The Aristocats and Mama Gunda in Tarzan II.

Villains, grandmothers, queens and witches. Sella could give each of them a personality entirely their own.
