I'm on the 7 hour flight back to DC. With not much else to do, I decided to answer some questions about the Heliod deck that top 4'd at Marchesa 2022. The most prominent question I've heard has been the absence of this card:

@Goldsabertooth Look at all my decks on Moxfield. Almost every single one of them runs this card. Can vouch for this. When this was in Standard, it would eat a removal spell the same way someone would bolt the bird. People just don’t respect this card the same way as Sentinel anymore.

@themanaleek @PleasantKenobi Yeah, but what I’m saying is there were tons of situations where I had to prioritize combat, threats, etc, that I could not be bothered to build the combo without advancing my board. Trying to combo can be less efficient than just playing a solid game on fundamentals.

@Doni_FMTGC Wanna know what’s funny? I went 3-0 and never once got to play the combo. Never even drew Bloodthirsty Conqueror and had to fight off a Quilled Greatwurm in my final match and still won using only commons. The 3-0 really came from solid combat fundamentals and combat tricks.
I went 3-0 by the way.

The Dr is suggesting I get another MRI for my neck. I am still experiencing pain more than 1 year after my fall and I really shouldn't be. Likely I am just too old to recover...😅
