Meet Mr. Sonu Manjhi, an attendant in Vande Bharat Jamalpur Howrah Express, a true embodiment of the word “Farista” in terms of modern day societal greed and ethics. My wife had lost her diamond bangle during the previous train ride on 18th of June. We thought it was a case of theft that had taken place while we were getting down from the train to the platform. We made peace with this loss, although my wife still had some sombre feelings about it.

But as it is often said, miracles do happen! We boarded the same train and bogie E1 today. The moment we sat, we were served some chilled water bottles by Sonu and he looked at us, smiling, and said, “Madam aap kuch bhool gayin thi train mein, wo samaan main sambhal kar rakha hoon.”

We were astonished rather taken aback, my wife’s face was read, “Oh God is this real?” And he came to deliver the bangle set to her. I don’t know how to articulate my gratefulness to such an angelic act. A person who hardly earns 10k a month has such a high moral value and character. He said, “Sir, I always check the train for any left belongings and try to return it back.”

It’s really true that if you do good, it will be returned to you. Thank you Sonu for all the courage you hold with such conviction! A rare sight in this era. God Bless such a pure soul like yours.
