Deeply saddened by the devastation caused by the severe earthquakes in Venezuela.
On behalf of the people of India, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Venezuela, especially to the families who have lost their loved ones. We pray for the speedy recovery of those injured and stand in solidarity with all those affected during this difficult time.
India stands ready to extend all possible assistance.
This is a must-read for anyone who feels like a novice when it comes to tech and policy. It breaks down the complex ways technology is transforming our world into simple, clear language.
An essential guide for understanding the future.
Will a nation grow, stagnate, or decline? Technology will tell
In my latest editorial for @IndianExpress, I discuss how for the first time in human history, technology is not merely one factor among many that supports economic growth.
It is driving it.
History will record the current era as the moment when technology ceased to be a means to an end and became the end itself.
Nations that understand this and act with seriousness and urgency will write the story of the century.
India has every reason and every capability to be among those who write it.
The only question is how urgently we choose to act.

Why was Akshaye Khanna's character SO overhyped as if he completely overshadowed Ranveer Singh?
He was good, but the hype made me expect something mind-blowing. Ranveer delivered the real performance

Hit a long, rough stretch of turbulence on my early morning flight to Thiruvananthapuram, but felt completely at ease knowing Air Warrior Vinay Krishnamurthy was in command. The landing was smooth, a rarity these days 😁
Salute to all air warriors who keep our skies safe and never stop serving the nation🫡
Happy #AirForceDay ✈️

To the cinephiles and the global audience,
Dhaivaradhane stands as a profound symbol of faith and cultural pride within Tulunadu, the coastal region of Karnataka. Our films, Kantara and Kantara Chapter-1, were created with the purpose of respectfully portraying this devotion and celebrating the glory of the Daivas . We have strived tirelessly to ensure that the profound respect and unwavering devotion central to Dhaivaradhane were honoured, successfully spreading the significance and heritage of the Tulu soil with the world.
We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming positive response. However, we have observed that certain individuals have been imitating the Daiva characters from the movie and engaging in inappropriate behaviour in public spaces and gatherings.
Dhaivaradhane or Daiva worship, as featured in our film, is rooted in deep spiritual tradition and is not intended for performance or casual mimicry. Such acts amount to trivializing our belief system and deeply hurt the religious sentiments and faith of the Tulu community.
Hombale Films therefore makes a strong and sincere appeal to the public and audiences to refrain from any act that involves imitating, mimicking, or trivializing the Daiva personas—whether in cinema halls or in public places.
The sacred nature of Dhaivaradhane must always be upheld. We urge all citizens to recognize the spiritual importance of these portrayals and act responsibly, ensuring that the devotion we sought to celebrate is never compromised or treated lightly.
We appreciate your continued support and cooperation in preserving the sanctity of this invaluable cultural heritage.

#Kerala has talent, but is lagging in India’s tech race. TN, Karnataka & Telangana fight for Tesla, Apple & semiconductors, Kerala is missing from the pie. #KeralaModel need an OS update
For the first time, Politicians are competing like startup founders.
Instead of fighting for power, Chief Ministers are fighting to bring factories, jobs, and billion-dollar investments into their states.
Consider what is happening right now.
👉Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu are competing to host Tesla’s EV plant.
👉Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu are racing to attract Apple’s suppliers.
👉Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra are pitching hard for semiconductor fabs.
👉Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh are battling to win steel and mining expansions.
👉Even states like Assam and Andhra are wooing investors with new policy sweeteners.
This is to me a revolution in politics, where economics is at the centre stage. I am excited because I have observed this work across the world.
👉In the United States, 238 cities pitched for Amazon’s HQ2 by offering billions in incentives.
👉In China, provinces like Guangdong, Shanghai and Beijing fought to attract manufacturing, which created specialized industrial hubs.
👉In Europe, countries competed to become the EV capital and that fast-tracked the continent’s green transition.
The outcome is always the same. When governments compete, companies receive better infrastructure, faster clearances and long-term stability.
😎Citizens benefit with jobs, growth and opportunities.
For India, this healthy rivalry between Chief Ministers may be one of the most underrated drivers of our economic growth story.
The next decade will not be shaped in Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi alone. It will be written in Guwahati, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Chennai and Pune among others.
Do you think this silent competition is India’s biggest strength for the future?
Vijay, the politician.
Basically, he says that he removed himself from Karur to avoid any further untoward incidents. And in line with his screen image, he ends with a punch line.
Politics is never easy --damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Superstar #Rajinikanth knew this well.
But Vijay is willing to take risks. #KarurTragedy is just his first trial by fire. Many more will come; let’s hope lessons r learnt & no innocent lives r lost in future.
The DMK is having multiple plans to demoralise Vijay and his party leaders. The onslaught following the Karur tragedy through mainstream media, DMK IT wing, official machinery and party machinery is aimed at stifle Vijay from performing as a political leader.
Time has come for Vijay to ponder whether he can fight war on multiple fronts. No country, however mighty it be can fight a war on multiple fronts. Vijay is making the same mistake.
Vijay should grab the indirect olive branch extended by both ADMK & BJP following the Karur tragedy.
It may be soothing to listen to dream stories rolled out by his aides John Arockiyasamy and Aadhav Arjun that, ADMK is weak and will be weakened further; and will perish after 2026 polls. It will also be addictive to hear pleasant bed time stories that TVK is winning on its own and Vijay will be sworn in as CM in 2026 on his own, without any alliance. But the reality is far far from true.
Vijay, being a novice in politics, should take the Karur tragedy as an eye opener, take stock and arrive at a decision which will ensure that, the DMK which is enjoying his discomfiture is taught a fitting lesson and don’t come back to power by 2026.

Our movie making business has been stolen from the United States of America, by other Countries, just like stealing “candy from a baby.” California, with its weak and incompetent Governor, has been particularly hard hit! Therefore, in order to solve this long time, never ending problem, I will be imposing a 100% Tariff on any and all movies that are made outside of the United States. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DJT

I get the criticism around the #Karur tragedy. But why a narrative against Vijay using his stardom? Isn’t that the culture, tradition, history of TN politics? A state that wields cinema like a butterfly knife in shaping politics like no other state.
Incidents like #Karur or #Bengaluru will keep repeating unless we build competence in crowd management/guardrails in place.
Stars will draw massive crowds, and people will rush to see them. The situation is predictable - so why not create systems that prevent such tragedies?
Is Vijay the first movie star to leverage his stardom to achieve political success? No.
Will he be last? Absolutely not.
TN’s political history is filled with film icons. Vijay is only walking the path carved by stars before him. So why guilt-trip him for it?
