Sonnet 5.5 improves on Sonnet 5 across benchmarks, in some cases dramatically.
Itโs a faster, lower-cost complement to Claude Opus 5.5, strongest at well-scoped everyday tasks, fixing bugs, and creating polished documents, slides, and spreadsheets.
Day 1/15 ยท .NET Interview Prep
"What happens when you inject a Scoped service into a Singleton?"
Most people answer "it throws". In Production it usually doesn't.
.NET Core turns on ValidateScopes and ValidateOnBuild only in the Development environment. Everywhere else they are off by default, so the app starts, the tests pass, and the bug ships.
The bug has a name: captive dependency. The singleton is created once and keeps the scoped object for the life of the app. Your "one per request" service is now shared by every request.
With a DbContext, concurrent requests hit an object that isn't thread-safe. With a tenant context in a multi-tenant SaaS, you are close to showing one customer another customer's data.
The fix:
- Make the consumer Scoped, or inject IServiceScopeFactory and create a scope per unit of work
- For EF Core, use IDbContextFactory
- Turn on ValidateOnBuild in CI so it can't sneak back in
Senior bonus: a Transient injected into a Singleton is captured too. The rule is simple: a service should only depend on services that live as long as it does, or longer.
Tomorrow, Day 2: why .Result can deadlock, and when ConfigureAwait(false) actually matters.

Claude Opus 5.5 just dropped โ and this is the one that actually matters for builders.
Fable-level on most work.
~40% cheaper than Opus 5.
$4/$20 per MTok. Cache reads at $0.20.
Thatโs the agent tax cut.
Overnight multi-repo jobs stay on task. Writing is clearer. Coding benchmarks look strong.
And this is just the first of the 5.5 family.
Sonnet and Haiku are still coming.
What are you moving to Opus 5.5 first?

.NET 8 has 50 days left.
November 10, 2026. .NET 8 LTS and .NET 9 STS both stop getting security patches.
๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น๐น: Skip .NET 11 (STS, 2-year support). Go 8 โ 10 LTS instead. You don't have time to chase a major every year.
๐จ๐ฝ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ธ๐น๐ถ๐๐:
ย ย โข TargetFramework bump
ย ย โข EF Core + Npgsql + SqlClient together
ย ย โข Run breaking changes against integration tests
ย ย โข Update Azure App Service runtime
ย ย โข Update CI build images

Projects now run from one conversation, starting in Claude Code. You describe what needs doing, and Claude directs parallel threads that keep working after you close your laptop.
In beta today for select Pro and Max users in cloud sessions; coming to all Claude users soon.
AI code review can now run builds and tests. Great progress.
But a passing test can still confirm the wrong assumption.
Month-end dates, duplicate retries, permissions: the hardest bugs often start with a question nobody asked.
What edge case taught you that lesson?

The one that stands out most to me is ๐๐ป๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐๐ฝ๐ฒ๐.
For years, .NET developers have used custom `Result<T>` patterns, third-party libraries, or exceptions to represent multiple possible outcomes from a method.
With union types, C# can model those possibilities directly, and the compiler can help make sure every case is handled.
That should make code around validation, API responses, business rules, and error handling much cleaner.
C# 15 also includes improvements such as:
โข Closed hierarchies
โข Extension indexers
โข Collection expression arguments
โข Labelled `break` and `continue`
โข More memory-safety improvements
Not every new language feature changes how we write day-to-day code, but union types definitely feel like one that could.
Iโm looking forward to trying them in real-world applications and seeing how much custom result/error-handling code they can replace.

Apple just dropped its first foldable, the iPhone Duo โ $1,999, 7.6" screen, 2nm chip, on-device AI.
Same week: OpenAI pauses Pro signups from Astra demand, Anthropic faces safety walkouts, agents keep breaking bounds.
Hardware got weirder. The AI race got real.
The best part of building software is realizing how much there is still to learn.
One day you're fixing a small bug. The next, you're exploring AI, improving architecture, or figuring out why something works in development but not in production.
Every problem teaches you something.
I'm trying to spend more time building, experimenting, and sharing what I learn along the way.
What are you building or learning this week?

Because we are beyond happy to have Astra rolled out today ahead of schedule and you have been super patient with us (not really, but itโs ok!)โฆ we will do the full banked reset today too for all Plus, Pro and Business users. Lands end of day.
Happy Astra day and enjoy a phenomenal weekend.
PS: If you create the account or upgrade before 8pm PT you will get it too. Still time!
AI is changing the way I write code.
Earlier, I used AI mostly to explain errors or generate small snippets.
Now Iโm starting to give it complete tasks โ understand the existing code, find the problem, make the change, and verify it.
The interesting part isnโt โAI can codeโ anymore.
Itโs how much of the development workflow we can actually delegate.
