If bartenders can go to jail for over-serving alcohol to someone who then kills another person, judges should go to jail for releasing criminals who do the same.
@Lam_mour@MarionS777@WiretapMediaCa Multiple Universities have run studies which prove otherwise, distracted driving significantly reduces people's ability to react and increases the chances of an accident by up to 76%
Charlie was a man who valued honest discussion, and open debate over violence.
He advocated for the peaceful battle of ideas, and talked about fearing what happens when people reject peaceful discourse.
And you fucking shot him.
@SG_1745@amaresh2512@stats_feed Right... because the government doesn't collect taxes from you to pay for these things 🙄 taxation ain't free and when it starts to become %60-70 of your income i think you'd start taking issue
@amaresh2512@stats_feed I disagree, Healthcare is provided by PEOPLE who spend years of their lives learning the skills to treat people, and they are already very often overworked for pay that only in some cases is culpable. Healthcare is a privilege, not a right! Unless you believe slavery is cool
@HCool8888@FroemelAndy@stats_feed Oh sorry I didn't realize that governments that have sent billions of dollars to fund Russia's opposition was giddy to unfreeze all those assets. I get where you're coming from but you're also forgetting all the other "acts of war" hopefully cooler heads prevail
Maybe my favorite quote of all time.
“Frankly speaking, my dear Karl, I do not like this modern word, which all weaklings use to cloak their feelings when they quarrel with the world because they do not possess, without labour or trouble, well‑furnished palaces with vast sums of money and elegant carriages. This embitterment disgusts me and you are the last person from whom I would expect it. What grounds can you have for it? … Yet the first untoward event, the first disappointed wish, evokes embitterment! Is that strength? Is that a manly character?”
- Heinrich Marx (Karl’s dad)
Everyone keeps saying Canada is done for that we're a failed nation, but everyone I talk to who holds this opinion doesn't actually do anything for the country. No wonder! If we want to fix the problems, we need to come up with constructive solutions to our issues and take action
War this and War that. When did people start deciding we need to kill more people and for what? Don't we have people dying in our streets from OD's and crime? Maybe we focus up on issues which have a peaceful solution before we start looking for more violence #PeaceForTheWorld
I wish taxes worked like investing. If I put money into the stock market, I choose the stocks. I’d like the same control over my tax dollars—if I want all my tax money to go toward school lunches, I should be able to allocate it that way. Let the people decide what’s important.
