7 RECENT REFLECTIONS ON READING:
• Readers read to their interests, not always to their need. Sometimes “readers” are the ones most likely to neglect Scripture. Beware that in reading widely and reading current things you do not miss the eternal truth of the Word.
• Read old books as well as new, and subjects you enjoy as well as subjects with which you are not as familiar.
• Read a little every day and you will read a lot over time. Have a few minutes? Pick up a book instead of your phone.
• Read readers. The best writers are those who quote great authors. You will simultaneously glean more and discover many others that you need to read.
• Depend heavily on recommendations from people you trust. There are too many books and too little time to read everything. Be selective.
• Write as you read. Mark important passages. Take notes. You will remember more of what you read, and you can quickly find things you want to reference without rereading the whole book.
• Scrolling posts on social media and surfing excerpts from online resources does not do the same thing for the human mind that processing an actual book does. Read a book!
What are you reading this year?
God gave us such a wonderful Southwide Baptist Fellowship this year. I deeply appreciate the way @KennyKuykendal1 and @scotthooks9 moderated the meetings, and we all are grateful for the hospitality of @KevinBroyhill and his people hosting us. Thank you to all of the men who preached the Word of God to us and reminded us that we truly are more than conquerors through Christ! Plan to join us October 12–14, 2026 at the First Baptist Church of Milford, OH. Registration for next year‘s gathering is now open at https://t.co/3fBhIuYk3p.
Nineteen one-syllable words hold every man’s soul in the eternal balance:
“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”
1 John 5:12
If you don’t have the life of Jesus Christ, call on Him today.

We are so grateful for the many open doors God has given this ministry recently. One exciting door is reaching Spanish-speaking people through the translation of Enjoying the Journey resources.
God has raised up several faithful Christians who are working on several translation projects. We could not be more thrilled! To spearhead this effort, God has brought David Mora across our path. He is a faithful preacher and associate pastor. He loves the Lord Jesus and has given himself to gospel work. Learn more about what is launching NEXT MONTH!
