Today, the #Vizag ACA-VDCA cricket stadium took a transformative step - we named a stand after the legendary cricketer Mithali Raj and a gate after Kalpana Ravi.

Honoring excellence in sport is not merely ceremonial; it is a statement of values and a signal to the next generation about who we choose to celebrate. In August 2025, during a thoughtful roundtable I had with India’s women cricketers, @mandhana_smriti articulated a powerful, overdue idea: our stadiums must reflect the achievements of women as prominently as men, beginning with the names on the stands that inspire every young athlete who walks in. That conviction resonated deeply in me.

Today, that idea becomes action. The Andhra Cricket Association will rename a stand at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam after the incomparable Mithali Raj, a path-breaker whose leadership and consistency elevated Indian women’s cricket to the world stage and inspired millions to dream bigger. A gate will be named after Kalpana Ravi, recognising quiet pillars who have strengthened the foundations of our sporting ecosystem.

This decision reflects a wider commitment: creating arenas where talent, not gender, determines recognition, and where every young girl can see her future etched into the architecture of our sport.
