Quick update. Reddit AMA recap is live for anyone who missed it:

Also, total fat-finger moment during the AMA - I told someone we'd share isles scenario info on Aug 25. Ignore that! It's actually Aug 28 (PT), and we’re dropping the isles scenario gameplay trailer.
As for the release? Sometime in that mystery month between September and November. Don't get me in trouble for leaking.

Saw this insane Backrooms in MC on Reddit today.

This vibe is unreal. Stuff like this always gets my brain going lol. Now I can’t stop thinking... you could actually make something like this in Once Human with our current building system. Build a creepy maze where you have no idea what’s around the next corner, that would be pretty wild.
Thanks for all the warm welcomes and comments. Time to pick the winners.

This word limit is killing me. I’m getting Premium tomorrow 😅😅😅
A quick crop from the Isles of the Abyss assets we’re currently iterating on. Just enough for you to know there’s something very wrong with the ocean. I’ll leave the rest to your imagination.
Any guesses what we’re looking at here?
Late nights always make you think.
Since we're heading towards console, I wanted to take a moment to talk about the place you're actually running around in: the State of Nalcott. Not as a dry wiki page, but from the way we actually designed it.
When we designed Nalcott, we wanted to build an island state about 500 km off the coast of Country A. After the Starfall in 2019, as Country A collapsed, Nalcott declared itself an independent state.
Ten years later, Rosetta took control of the state and built their own base right in the middle of what's left of Nalcott City.
And when I say “base,” I don't mean a few buildings and a fence. Most of it is actually underground.
This is Midtown, the smallest of Nalcott's four regions, but also the most important one.
Nalcott City was the only city on the island. Like cities everywhere else, it didn't escape the Starfall. Only a few thousand people survived across the island, and the city itself was completely abandoned. For years, it became a home for Deviants and a place where Stardust residue piled up.
When Rosetta took control of Nalcott, they pushed into the ruins of the city and built their branch base right in the center.
Most of the complex is hidden underground and connected by an extensive network of facilities. So from above, what you see is still mostly an untouched ring of ruins, with just a small part of Rosetta's high-tech facilities visible on the surface.
The rest of Nalcott is very different.
To the east, you have Blackfell. It's hot and dry, with deserts and dry plains, but also rich in minerals and oil. Many industrial workers and their families lived here before the Starfall. Afterward, the survivors formed an autonomous organization known as the Union. The Union once controlled much more of Nalcott, but as Stardust contamination spread, it gradually lost territory. Today, most of its population is concentrated around Blackfell, with Blackfell Town serving as its headquarters and the main source of its oil and fuel.
To the west is R'lyeh, greener and much more livable. A large number of survivors settled here, and the old subway system became something much more important after the Starfall: a huge underground shelter.Furutake Gumi controls most of the area now. Technically, they're a branch of the organization on the mainland, but the unstable transportation between the mainland and Nalcott gives them a lot of independence in practice.
And then, to the north, there's Arkam. Mountains, snow, forests, wildlife... sounds nice until you remember that most of the region is heavily contaminated and full of Deviants. Fewer than 200 people survived here after the Starfall. The Column arrived around three years ago with just 17 people. Even after some locals joined them, their population still hasn't reached 300.
That's Nalcott, at least at a glance.
Just finished both of our console AMAs. Appreciate everyone who showed up with so many questions.
Getting the key takeaways organized now. Should be up on the official Once Human account next week, so give it a look if you want to see what we covered.
If I go silent tomorrow, you know why.
Here’s a free gift everyone who joins our event can get after the console launches. Well, here’s 20% of the item anyway. The other 80% is currently standing between me and getting to see tomorrow.
Any guesses what kind of item this is? lmao

Answered a ton of AMA questions today! Really hope my translations made sense. I was doing my best lol.
One player asked today: “Were there any books or movies that helped inspire the game?”
I actually watch a lot of New Weird stuff and the Cthulhu Mythos. Movies like Annihilation, Backrooms, Arrival... love that kind of thing.
Idk, what really scares me isn't destruction. It's when things that should never go together start growing together.
When two completely unrelated species mix together and grow into something new... it's creepy, but there’s also something weirdly beautiful about it. A lot of our Deviants came from this kind of thinking.
Anyway, curious now, are there any Deviants that gave you that same uncanny feeling?
