@rhettmc It looks much more rodent than insect. Squirrel or something similar. There are some general pest sprays you can use to keep them from chewing. Homemade spray with vinegar, water, and hot pepper like cayenne works ok.

@rhettmc Hi Rhett- wood science professor here. It’s been chewed- looks too big to be termite, their damage is much smaller diameter. Squirrel maybe? Beetles typically bore into the wood, like carpenter bees.
