I’d like to contest this - my roughest premise is that the time between humans hunting elephants to collect ivory tusks, and the time for their physiology to adapt to no tusks (to avoid being killed via poaching) - is extremely small.
Therefore, something else must be going on.
i have tragic news. elephants in parts of africa are being born without tusks bc of poaching. humans have created such extreme evolutionary pressure that they’re now evolving away from the very feature poachers kept killing them for. their biology is adapting to human violence.
@petefirman Isn’t this the effect of persistence of vision? For me their actual colors lingered for a second or less, and then disappeared to black and white. Wonder if the effects will change with different colors from the beginning.
Commercially I’m happy for Terra Industries. Strategically, this is such a shame for Nigeria, Africa, and African nationalism at large. We need to learn how to find promising and valuable talents out on time, and protect them.
There’s a lot more to say, but that summarizes it.
We're proud to announce that Ben MacWilliams has joined Terra Industries as our VP of Strategy.
Ben previously led Starlink's market access for Africa at SpaceX, taking the service live in over 20 countries through direct engagement with presidents, regulators, and ministers.
But it is the collective outputs from the everyday foreigners most affected by xenophobia that contributes more foreigner income and, most importantly, continued interest for business and tourism from more foreigners.
I hope these two giants can bury the hatchet for good. (5/5)
At least we know 14.3K Nigerians provided South Africa some tourism income in 2026 so far.
I’ve been trying to figure out who loses more in the end, in this squabble between Nigeria and South Africa. I can easily find tourism data for South Africa, but not for Nigeria. (1/5)
So if the relationship between these two countries sours so much, you can tell what the outcome would look like. Very rich foreigners in South Africa may not feel the impacts of xenophobia like the average foreigner student or trader. (4/5)

@ARISEtv NIGERIANS, we do not know how to manage these people. This level of insensitivity shouldn't go unpunished - he shouldn't have left that station easily after saying these on live TV. We respond slowly to these things.
These people need reciprocative iron-hand from the masses.
@ok_mayowa Any sort of natural conservation was Quantum Physics to us as far back as the pre-terrorism days. Today it’s become a completely uncharted territory.
