URA’s Simon Akora emphasized the critical role of accurate documentation in enterprise development.
"Proper records are the foundation of business growth. They unlock access to financing, simplify compliance, and give you control over your enterprise," Akora stated.
He noted that many businesses face challenges not because they are unprofitable, but due to poor record-keeping that obscures their financial position and limits their ability to formalize operations.

Soroti🌍
The Uganda Revenue Authority has today commenced its Regional Women's Conference at Timisha Hotel in Soroti, convening businesswomen from ten districts across the Teso subregion.
Taking place under the theme "Beyond Her Tax Returns: Comply and Thrive," the conference is examining the role of tax compliance as an enabler of business growth, personal empowerment, and community wealth creation. The engagement forms part of URA's ongoing efforts to strengthen the relationship between the Authority and female taxpayers through constructive dialogue and tailored support.
The forum brings together women engaged in various sectors, including cross-border trade and agriculture, to discuss compliance obligations, access to tax incentives, and strategies for business formalization.
This regional engagement underscores URA's commitment to inclusive tax administration and its recognition of women as essential partners in domestic revenue mobilization.

URA's enforcement team stopped a suspected case of economic sabotage in Kikagati, Isingiro District.
Upon verification, officers recovered two Bajaj Boxer motorcycles with registration numbers UFN 892J and UGF 406E, as well as one bale of fabric and another of zippers.
A week earlier, the team had intercepted one bale of fabric and a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle (registration UEX 226L) on Kikagati–Isingiro road, along with six boxes of assorted cosmetics in the Kakuuto area. In one of the operations, suspects abandoned the goods and fled into a nearby bush.
Elvis Kairanga, the supervisor of the South Western region, applauded whistleblowers for their cooperation and called upon business owners to comply with tax laws, as smuggling hurts the economy.
