One thing I completely understand, especially from foreign clients, is being cautious about sending money to someone you have only met on X or any other social media.

Immigration work can involve a lot of money and nobody wants to find themselves chasing someone online after making a payment.

Uganda's Class G2, The Permit Most Foreign Employees Actually Need

Picture someone offered a role at a company in Kampala, told the paperwork is simple, just get a permit and start. What they're actually being pointed toward is Class G2, Uganda's version of an employer-sponsored work permit and it works on a similar logic to what Kenya does with Class D, though the mechanics differ in a few ways.

Class G2 covers foreign expatriates employed in Uganda and it specifically includes salaried NGO staff alongside standard corporate employees, a detail that surprises people expecting NGO work to fall under a separate volunteer category. The permit has to be sponsored by the employer and that employer needs a registered organization code before anything else moves forward. Beyond that, the same labor market logic shows up here as it does in Kenya, the employer typically has to demonstrate the role couldn't be filled by a Ugandan national, alongside the standard package of company documents, a security bond, tax clearance and proof the business is properly incorporated.

Processing runs four to six weeks, though there's been talk this year of reforms pushing toward a much faster turnaround.
