The proposal was announced by Pakistan's Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Chaudhry during official talks with Kazakhstan. Pakistan invited Kazakhstan to use Karachi, Port Qasim, and Gwadar for cargo transit — a practical step to open new trade routes for Central Asia.

🔸The core issue

Kazakhstan has no direct ocean access. Its Caspian ports serve existing trade flows, but for South Asia, Africa, and the Persian Gulf — markets with 2+ billion people — it needs new paths. Pakistan offers itself as the "southern gateway."

🔸 How will cargo move?

Three routes are considered:

1. Via China (Karakoram Highway) under the Quadrilateral Traffic in Transit Agreement (QTTA - 1995). Connects Kyrgyzstan, possibly Uzbekistan. First test shipments in 2026.

2. Trans-Afghan route — via Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. Shortest, but politically risky.

3. Via Iran (Bandar Abbas) as an alternative.

🔸 Belt and Road connection

Gwadar is a key China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) port. If Kazakhstan gets access, it joins this network — shorter routes and Chinese investment.

🔸 The $1 billion goal

2025 trade turnover: $105.6 million. Target for 2028: $1 billion. Growth: +100% in 9 months of 2025.

🔸 Challenges

No rail link, Karakoram closed in winter, ports congested, Afghan route unstable.

Pakistan wants to become Central Asia's transit hub. Kazakhstan gets ocean access and export diversification. Discussions include expanding QTTA to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

⚠️ Muslim Man Killed Defending Woman From Islamophobic Attack

Belgium — A Muslim shopkeeper who stepped in to defend a Muslim woman from racist and Islamophobic abuse on a Brussels tram has died after being beaten so badly that he succumbed to his injuries.

Driss Atouane, who managed a supermarket in the Schaerbeek district, intervened after a man directed racist and anti-Muslim remarks at a woman aboard Tram 55 in the municipality of Evere.

According to the victim's relatives, Driss was struck from behind with a heavy object after confronting the attacker. He collapsed to the ground, where the suspect continued to kick him until several young men intervened to stop the assault.

Driss, who remained conscious after the attack, was taken to Brugmann University Hospital in Schaerbeek. His condition later deteriorated and he fell into a coma before dying on Sunday morning.

A Muslim woman was abused and attacked in front of her child by a racist woman in Surgut, Russia.

According to witnesses, she insulted the Muslim woman, calling her an "Islamic creature" and physically attacked her.

Fortunately, bystanders immediately intervened and physically moved the racist woman away.

Muslim women, particularly Niqabi women, have been facing widespread Islamophobia in Russia. Recent incidents highlight the daily challenges these women face.

Kuwait ratifies landmark defense agreement with Pakistan

Kuwait has ratified a defense pact with Pakistan signed in June 2023. The ratification follows high-level military contacts between the two countries.

"This agreement reintroduces Pakistan as a direct security stakeholder in the Gulf, beyond its traditional role of providing manpower and training," said Sultan M. Hali, writer and retired Group Captain of the Pakistan Air Force.

Key points:

🔸 New role. Pakistan ceases to be merely a troop supplier. The pact positions Islamabad as a direct security stakeholder in the Gulf.

🔸Hedging strategy. Kuwait is reducing dependence on the US and NATO by relying on a nuclear-armed Muslim ally.

🔸Multipolarity. Arab monarchies are turning to China, Turkiye, and South Asia amid a fragmented world order.

🔸Basing. Permanent bases are unlikely, but joint exercises and maritime patrols are realistic.

🔸Defense industry. Kuwait may consider the JF-17 Thunder — cheaper than Western analogs.

🔸Defense diplomacy. Strengthens Pakistan's leverage in Gulf councils and its position vis-à-vis India.
