According to recent data from the Ministry of Railways :

New Tracks Laid: Since 2014, Indian Railways has laid over 31,000 km of tracks (which includes new lines, gauge conversion, and multi-tracking/doubling).

Track Commissioning Rates: The average annual track commissioning rate more than doubled—increasing from an average of -
1,499 km per year (between 2004–2014) to
3,118 km per year (between 2014–2024).

Track Renewal: In addition to entirely new lines, Indian Railways has heavily modernized its existing infrastructure, renewing over 54,600 km of older railway tracks to enhance safety, reliability, and support higher speeds.
