@phoebee_b This was me 10 years ago. Spend the week getting to know your rotation colleagues well- you’ll be in this together and be there to support each other. Also you’re a sponge this week learn from the colleagues you will be taking over from!
@LizSchwarzRN @TMLutas @jbullockruns Fortunately in the UK it’s a moral not a legal obligation to help on flights so would not be a problem. I’m also working with several colleagues who don’t work nights but our training programme is very different (6-7 year speciality training) so less acute.
@LizSchwarzRN @TMLutas @jbullockruns I’m not sure how being pregnant would be encountered by very few doctors. All of my colleagues including myself have had night shifts reduced at the end of pregnancy to allow for this. It’s about putting your (and baby’s) health and well-being first.
@TMLutas @jbullockruns That’s the key point if you’re prevented from qualifying if it’s a requirement to do nights. Far better to look at the evidence around skills and knowledge gained during nights and whether it is essential to do nights to achieve this.
@amybethreyes @jbullockruns A few examples I have come across here would be pregnancy- for various reasons at a variety of stages of pregnancy, sleep apnoea, mental health issues, cardiac disease. If there is evidence you have a medical condition that would be affected by night shift work.
The Consultants of Dorset hospital have written a letter to @SteveBarclay
They strike tomorrow
This letter is incredible
I challenge anyone to refute a single point in it
Worth a read for you too @wesstreeting
I’m struggling to find the words to put with this post but please watch my most recent interview with Dele. It’s the most emotional, difficult yet inspirational conversation I’ve ever had in my life. Watch the interview on @wearetheoverlap here https://t.co/60d4IZwQmR

Abolish all hope.
@tarhealer@LifeandPICU From the UK it’s honestly heartbreaking. I tool 9 months off for my little ones and had protected working hours on my return to allow me to breast feed to 12 months. It could and should be much better for you.
