Dr. Antoni Rosell i Melé was more than the head of @ImpactantG, he was a dedicated, considerate mentor and a dear friend to all of us who had the pleasure of working with him. He was a source of inspiration and is greatly missed.

Today on the Sarmiento the other #SAGA scientists learned about #Paladyn's projects through seminars from @nina_davtian on 'Dissolved Pyrogenic carbon in the water column' and @OriolTeruel on Dust: its interaction with climate and how it has changed over time. @ICTA_UAB
The SDG is cruising & spirits are high! March 27 they were 27°S of the equator and yesterday they reached 19°S. Now they are in the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), a belt of high precipitation, what we are tracking in #Paladyn using air, water, and sediment samples.
The #Paladyn crew filters water column samples & in- transit surface samples for pyrogenic carbon (any organic molecule formed by incomplete combustion of wildfires) within dissolved & particulate matter, that's been transported and deposited by atmospheric circulation.
Lots of smiles from the female scientists on the Sarmiento de Gamboa as they get ready to cross the Atlantic a few days into the cruise!
