🌊There is only one King below the waves 🌊 Celebrating 85 years of Namor the Sub-Mariner! Marvel's First Superhero. First Comic Anti-Hero. IMPERIUS REX! / 18+
I don’t think recommending comics from the 60s should be considered pretentious we should not only value the art put into it but also value how its the reason we have so many amazing stories it became a collaborative effort with fans who grew up with those stories.
@SUBMARINER1941 like little kids used to read 60s comics with no problem, they're easy to read and some of them even offer recaps of previous issues lol. meanwhile anything 2010 onwards requires you to read 10 tie-ins, 15 crossover runs, and 2 solo comics before u can understand what's happening
its not a dumb question anon. aaron fucked up the Neptune & Namor dynamic, in the comics Namor's a demi god, he is descended from Neptune and Neptune loves him. He gives Namor all kinds of cool shit like armor, trident, bringing him back to life etc. & he never drowned atlantis
like is there gatekeeping in comic fandom? yes. there's racism and gatekeeping in every fandom and comics arent any different but the majority of fans I know are inclusive and want better books and more people to get into stuff they love.
its really funny to me that general mainstreamers have built up this image of comic fans as gatekeeping elitist nerds who look down on them when the actual issue is comic fans want people to read comics and they don't want to but believe their opinions matter as much as the fans.
comic fans are begging people, on their hands and knees, to read about their favorite characters, begging them to enjoy the books as much as they do. comic fans are so passionate about their favorite characters and wanna share that.
LQRT: If people find reading comics too hard then they shouldn't be in comic fandom spaces. They should not be making videos whining about reading. Like no one is holding a gun to them and forcing them to do this. Leave comic fandom and go not read somewhere else.
