I’m assuming that Sorsby didn’t forget to report his gambling income to the IRS. Under federal law, all gambling winnings—regardless of the amount or whether you receive a tax form—are considered fully taxable income and must be reported on your tax return. Intentionally failing to do is a federal crime.
Texas Tech's actions in obtaining eligibility for Brendan Sorsby -- an athlete the NCAA declared permanently ineligible for extensive wagering on college sports, including games involving his own team -- have constituted a shameful chapter in the story of college football.
If Texas Tech will not do the right thing, the Big 12 should. https://t.co/lwTPeL9dcF
@slmandel What message does it send to student athletes that you didn’t like the NCAA ruling so you had to sue? Any Federal Appeals Court would overturn this injunction.
Texas Tech has won in a court of law. It's losing badly in the court of public opinion -- and it's only making things worse with its P.R. strategy. https://t.co/qR2g4k3ejJ
One of the most tone deaf, hypocritical things I've ever seen in sports. No one willing to admit that Sorsby could receive help from Texas Tech WITHOUT playing football. He can be a regular student and receive the support these jokers are congratulating themselves for providing.
@RossDellenger Red Raider here. We are the fucking laughing stock of college sports. Our leaders and Cody are fucking clueless. Just keep digging a grave. Cut path with this lowlife QB. What a fucking joke we are…… massive fucking joke.
