Many non-Indigenous people will be acknowledging Orange Shirt Day for the first time this year.
So I wanted to share a few important points / thoughts:
Schools have been closed for 8 of the past 14 months
During this time:
Why haven’t ventilation issues been fixed?
Why haven’t class sizes been reduced?
Why haven’t safer outdoor spaces been set up?
Maybe it’s because education & mental health aren’t Ontario’s real priorities
He lied. And lied again. Every time I raised these numbers in the Legislature, he lied.
This afternoon I will begin several days of cross-examination of the Minister in Committee. Time for the Mr Lecce to come clean w Ontarians.

Wait...so, @fordnation spent “all weekend with the docs” figuring out if some HCW could attend the Leaf’s game in person, but he can’t give us a decision about schools for a few days? The Leaf’s game was prioritized over the 2 million school children of Ontario. That’s so Ford.
@questions973@JimWatsonOttawa@fordnation Fair, but for children who are already at a playground they are allowed to be at, then not be allowed to use a water feature to cool off, it just doesn’t make sense.
@LucilleCollard Please help @fordnation understand that closing splash pads has dangerously negative impact of underprivileged children. It’s cruel given most splash pads are at playgrounds that are open. They don’t understand why they can go to the park and not have water
@fordnation I work in a shelter with children, and the shelters are already under very strict covid regulations to avoid outbreaks. Taking kids to the park is the one thing they have. They wilt in this heat. So now they just have to stay indoors? Please, don’t do this to them.

@fordnation please reconsider your decision to not allow splash-pads to open at the same time as other outdoor activities like golf and basketball. It’s going to be over 30 degrees this long weekend. Please RT and email your MPP. #splishsplash

@VeraEtches Questions: Are they allowed to be open? If not, when can they reopen? Are they allowed to charge for care/classes while children don’t attend?
@VeraEtches can I get some clarification around Forest Schools and when they are able to begin operating. There is some confusion around the way they are categorized: child care, camp, or school. Children are enrolled once per week, are outdoors from 9-3 in small ratios.
