📢 AIMRA Takes Fight for 30 Lakh Livelihoods to Parliament!

AIMRA Chairman @LakhyaniKailash met with Member of Parliament Shri Praveen Khandelwal ji in Delhi to address the critical issue of anti-competitive practices by e-commerce giants like @amazonIN & @Flipkart. These practices, along with collusion with Chinese and Korean OEMs/ODMs (as highlighted in @CCI_India reports), are devastating the livelihoods of 30 lakh individuals. Shockingly, these collusions exploit loopholes, with 80% of stocks sold through grey markets, fueling massive black money circulation.

AIMRA India urged Shri Khandelwal ji to raise this urgent matter with the relevant Ministries. We're grateful for his assurance to personally meet with ministers and demand strict policies, compliance, and investigations against these unlawful and anti-competitive companies.

However, this growth is stemming from unregulated practices and unlawful business activities by e-commerce platforms & OEMs/ODM. Issues like predatory pricing, Exclusive Bank Cash-back, lack of level playing field for mainline (offline )retailers, export incentives misuse, and online-to-retail infiltration & exploitation urgently call for a consolidated policy framework.

It's time for joint action across Commerce, IT, Finance, Corporate Affairs, and GST departments to address these challenges and protect the interests of Indian traders and economy .

Shri @praveendel Khandelwal Ji Secretary General of @CAITIndia & MP of BJP, along with #CAIT and @AimraIndia, has been highlighting for over a decade that foreign e-commerce giants like @amazon & @Flipkart, along with Chinese and Korean OEMs/ODMs, are engaging in practices such as exclusivity, deep discounting, and seller control.

Despite the @CCI_India report and @dir_ed raids, these companies continue to violate #FDI norms and @CCI_India regulations.

During the #Diwali season, these platforms conducted 70% of Smartphone business of india, with 80% of stocks being dumped back into the retail grey channels or exported via aggregators to secure 10% instant #banks cashback. This not only leads to significant bank losses but also enables them to claim #GST and #export incentives, resulting in the government losing over 30% on every smartphone sold online.

Such unethical and unlawful practices have caused over 50,000 retailers to shut their shops, with another 100,000 at risk, threatening the livelihoods of 3 million individuals. The rise of quick commerce is further aggravating the challenges for retailers and distributors.

The question is When the Government of India is aware of these anomalies, why has no strict action been taken or a strong policy framework implemented to address them, instead allowing the situation to worsen further?

We urge the government to enforce strict guidelines, SOPs, penalties & Cancelling the licenses to curb these practices and ensure the survival of retailers, distributors, and traders in India. Immediate action is necessary to safeguard employment, protect consumers, and maintain fair trade practices. The entire traders' community looks to your leadership for decisive action.

🛑 **Attention!** 🛑

We are witnessing a concerning trend affecting our small retail community, particularly related to cyber crime and the freezing of bank accounts without prior intimation. Traders like Kulwant Sharma, a mobile retailer from Ghaziabad, UP, recently faced the unfortunate situation of having his account bank freezed just before Diwali. 💔

The lack of clear communication from banks and police has left many traders in a helpless situation. When a cheque bounces, the only way many find out their accounts have been frozen is through these unfortunate incidents. Even after seeking help from local police stations, many find they receive no concrete assistance or information regarding the exact nature of the freeze or whom to contact.

This is not just about an individual's struggle; it's about the overall safety and future of our retail and trading community. With the Hon'ble Prime Minister encouraging digital payments and modernization, we must ask: why are the authorities not providing support to the very traders who are essential for this vision? 🤔

The High Court has even directed that only disputed amounts should be on hold, not the entire account. So why do some cyber police continue to block 100% of traders’ bank accounts, causing immense hardship?

The focus should be on catching the real criminals, not punishing innocent traders who have done nothing wrong.

We urge the concerned authorities and politicians to look into this matter urgently and help people like Kulwant Sharma who are struggling due to unknown blockages in their bank accounts.

Let’s raise our voices for justice and support for our local traders! **

In a strongly worded communication sent to @FinMinIndia Smt @nsitharaman today, CAIT has highlighted serious concerns regarding the lackadaisical approach of the @CCI_India in handling the entire investigation of law offenders Amazon & Flipkart.

Despite clear evidence of anti- competitive practices of the ecommerce giants, the CCI has lacked the intent to restore healthy competition in the Indian trade ecosystem.

CAIT has demanded immediate strict action against the perpetual and habitual offenders who have destroyed the competition in Indian retail. We urge the CCI to ensure that all possible measures be taken to prosecute and penalise Amazon & Flipkart by following the principles of natural justice.
