My interpretation has always been it will “link up to advent children” meaning it will resolve plot points of both FFVII and AC for a definitive end. So from that POV, Hamaguchi, Nomura & Kitase are all saying the same thing.

Hamaguchi never said it for sure, but Nomura & Kitase did. They laid it out pretty clear that ReTrilogy is an actual Remake & Advent Children happens after ReTrilogy.
