Disability Action in Islington (DAII) was founded in 1996 DAII is a Disabled Peoples Organisation. We were created by and are defined by disabled people.
I’ve requested (to the Council’s Highways Department) that the LTN in West Green Ward is suspended during these works on West Green Rd, starting next week, for a month!!
(Not sure why they couldn’t wait until Summer school holidays 😩)

Secret filming in Winterbourne View showed staff abusing Disabled people in hospital. 15 years on, people with learning difficulties and autistic people can still be detained for years. We do not know how many are abused behind closed doors. Enough is enough: Free Our People Now!

Has been organised in consultation with Islington Council ! Authority to hold the parade should never have been agreed without meeting the needs of disabled people, the council do not get to say not within our control it was and is !
Despite reaching out to Arsenal FC, Islington Council and the Labour administration for clarification, Disability Action in Islington has received no response.

Update we have a partial response from the executive that sadly was not adequate and references council have been in touch about the needs of disabled fans and residents and the team have been in contact with police and club. All over the FAQ of Arsenal it state. Parade
adjustments will be in place.

Today I met a 79 year old woman who was found by bins with her walking frame and the clothes on her back after being evicted from her home by bailiffs.
Spent a few hours at the council and they’ve placed her in a hotel until Monday.
We have to do everything to make sure this doesn’t end up become the norm.
