Good time to review this and set 2026 goals:
- wasn't able to achieve this but invested in my first property this year
- haven't moved in with my girlfriend yet but we plan on doing that this year
- did this multiple times this year
- wasn't able to do this RIP
- not sure if I got to 100k but if I didn't it was definitely above 80k donated so I'll call that a win

2026 goals:

- Learn a new language
- Buy at least 2 new guns including my first AR

Perhaps I am not the wisest man. But if I were in charge on 9/11 these would have been my orders:

1. We change nothing that we do not have to. Our way of life remains intact. We will not sacrifice our liberties in at the altar of fear.

2. We kill everyone involved, everyone they love, and everyone they are related to. If that means dropping a nuke on Mecca, so be it. If I go down in history as a genocidal maniac, then so be it. But there will be glass across the Middle East, from Kabul to Riyadh, and if we take out a few million innocents in the process, that is on Bin Laden, not on us. We will retaliate with indiscriminate anger. Our response will be horrifyingly disproportionate. The souls that perished at Hiroshima will be horrified by what we are about to do.

3. The towers will be rebuilt, just taller. I will not have the skyline of NY changed.

The CIA just declassified 71 Presidential Daily Briefs spanning 1998 through September 2001 on the anniversary of 9/11

One of the documents, dated December 4, 1998, warned President Clinton that Bin Laden and his allies were preparing attacks inside the United States, including aircraft hijackings. It said operatives had already done a trial run and evaded security at a New York airport.

Members of the network had received hijack training. Another 1998 brief was titled “Reports That Bin Laden is Planning Attacks Inside the US.” The well-known August 6, 2001 PDB “Bin Laden Determined To Strike in US” came more than a month before the attacks.

In December 2001, just three months after the September 11 attacks, Elton John appeared on “Live by Request,” an A&E special where viewers called in live to request songs. Among the callers, a woman shared that her husband had been one of the first responders to die at the World Trade Center, and that “Rocket Man” was his favorite song.

Elton, visibly moved by the request, sat down at the piano and began playing that 1972 classic that everyone had heard a thousand times before. But that night, in that context, the lyrics about loneliness and distance took on a completely different weight.

Sweating and with his voice breaking on every note, he managed to completely silence the audience for the four minutes the song lasted.
