Writing historical fiction is so benignly chaotic, like I'm in the middle of composing an intense, heartfelt, philosophical scene then suddenly I have to open a new tab for "when were towels invented"

@PrinceOfPosts I’ve just given it to my 16 yo to read actually. He’s writing short stories & we critique / edit each other’s work. I am curious what he will make of it. It does leave quite an impression. So sad he died so early (& ironically of a heart attack while he was writing the sequel).

@PrinceOfPosts @SeptimusBrown Thnks for sharing. I was 14 when it came out & read lots of fantasy but missed this one. I too have read it several times over the last 2 years (I am 48). It’s actually inspired me to write my own (first) novel. Must have been an experience reading it at 16 (starting out in life)

@SeptimusBrown That’s a good question. I’m only 20,000 words into my first novel so haven’t thought that far ahead yet 😆 Maybe by the end my leading character will be developed enough to know me (and I’ll know him) inside out so I’d celebrate in a manner he’d be proud. Sounds abit nuts 🤔😎😆

@_CatLane_ 😊 what a nice thought. I’d treat my 15 year old son to something special (he’s way smarter than me and my best critic). Then I’d sit by the phone and wait for Steven Spielberg to call about the upcoming movie rights 😆😎
