Third time's a charm? Not really! Preston Tower in East Lothian burned down in 1544 during the ‘Rough Wooing’, in 1650 after the Battle of Dunbar and accidentally in 1663 🔥

In 2022, @aocarchaeology created a 3D model of the ruins which hints at features that no longer survive.

In the early medieval period, pilgrims from Ireland on their way to Whithorn in Galloway would stop over at Chapel Finian on the shore of the west Machars. The Chapel is dedicated to Saint Finnian, perhaps Finnian of Moville who died c.579 AD. https://t.co/aHBD54yaFn

Excavators at Bucklers Park in Crowthorne, Berkshire, discovered a Bronze Age log ladder leaning against the side of a 2.6m deep well. This type of ladder is the most commonly known across prehistoric England. https://t.co/1M01GXFxpm

Kilmorie Cross combines Christian and pagan iconography. The carvings show the triumph of Christianity over paganism. The front shows an ornate cross above a design of intertwined animal figures. At the back, a representation of Crucifixion is depicted.

In Prestonpans, stand the ruins of Preston Tower, a 15c tower house that was burnt and rebuilt several times during the Medieval period.
The recent #3D survey by @aocarchaeology gave a greater understanding of the building’s history and evolution.

Community excavations by Historic Assynt saw Clachtoll Broch fully excavated, revealing the story of a home abandoned in a hurry while the building burned. Hundreds of artefacts were left behind, lying where they fell for two thousand years.

In May of 2020, AOC Archaeology carried out archaeological survey in the graveyard of St Giles in the Fileds in London.
Thanks to #photogrammetry and #RTI the team managed to enhance the worn out carvings and reveal the hidden detail!

In 2018, work at the Cairns Broch uncovered an rare #IronAge survival: a wooden bowl, preserved in waterlogged conditions. All uncovered fragments were recorded in ##3D during conservation works, giving us 360 degree view of the bowl.
