Currently editing episode 47. John Klingberg signed with the Ducks today. We talked about where he might end up. We were dead wrong lol. But once the episode drops give us a listen! #NHLFreeAgency
@starroftheshow1 Yes it’s higher but for 1yr only. Huberdeau will make more next year which they couldn’t do anyway. Essentially the trade was 1st rounder, 1 year or Weegar/Huberdeau & a prospect. FLA wins that long term. Plus why run it back, they got crushed last year with a stacked team😂
@starroftheshow1 They weren’t resigning them anyway & it would hurt on the cap this year. Prospect was ok not great & like we said both guys more likely won’t resign with CGY. So you traded Tkachuk for basically 1 year or Weegar & Huberdeau. That 1st has a condition & will be a late pick anyway
@starroftheshow1 It’s a lot easier to move pending UFA’s now as appose to March. Plus Duclair will be on LTIR most the year & they have a couple younger guys like Denisenko, Samoskevich almost ready. This team is still a couple years away w/the East anyway so gear up for the next 3-5 yr window.
@starroftheshow1 Plus there is no guarantee Huberdeau or Weegar would resign with FLA. They have to prioritize there goaltending right now. Plus with Calgarys state right now, I don’t see either guy resigning with them anyway and they’ll both be on the market next year
@starroftheshow1 With Huberdeau, Weegar & Knight all being free agents next year they had to pick one. Ship 2 pending UFA’s for a younger more aggressive winger & use that $ to lock him up. Huberdeau will make 10M+ prob. They then can sign Knight with Hornqvist $ coming off the books next year.
