@New_Common_Law@chrisbowditch@13sarahmurphy The law against incitement doesn't require a violent outcome. The incitement itself is the offence. The UK doesn't have 'gulags', there is no crackdown on speech, and our Police are capable of distinguishing 'insults' from 'aggravated assaults'.
@morepuzzled@mikejt4@13sarahmurphy The independent justice system decides, based on laws created by democratically representatives, tested by repeated cases. Applicable to all, of course.
@chrisbowditch@13sarahmurphy Free to express an idea or opinion. It is not an opinion to urge others to violence, murder or riot, especially if there are dates, times, and meeting places. It's just good old premeditation. Malice aforethought. Intent to harm.
@Public_Enemy_01@arcticnead Religious? No. However, Spain is a popular choice for violent British gangsters on the run. Criminals with a lawless ideology. Sensibly, the Spanish don't think all British migrants are criminals, based on the behaviour of a few. We could learn from them.
@qweentoshi So, if the US authorities become aware of people who were, talking enthusiastically about a future attack on an event, with dates, times, and details... like blocking the exits and setting fire to the place... they would do nothing? Just write it off as 'opinion'?
@kpkiwoong@world_of_pies Not 'people of other nations', social media companies who fail to moderate adequately. This platform has rules (on hate, spam, glorifying violence, etc) which it routinely fails to uphold, for example.
@Annette93501208@implausibleblog They rise up when we take our eye off the ball. Usually, when there's some kind of economic stress. Vigilance always needed.
@davidhogg111 If it's accepted that taxes pay for all children to have a free education (and pencils, books, desks etc) because it's in the national interest to have a literate population, why would it be 'far left' for the same children to have enough energy to concentrate?
@EdHereTrades @Montylockedout @sooper_genius @thecycles@CatCranston@IanDunt@X Is the UAE (population 9m, chief export petrol) a viable alternative to the EU (population 450m, chief export 'our food')?
@BlokeOnWheels This is how it always ends, Joe. Locking arms with each other and facing down the thugs together. We took our eye off the ball the last few years, and they got bold.
