We’re greedy. The boys have overperformed compared to our expectations coming into this tournament but we’re upset that they’re not a great team. There was a real possibility that they were going to make us the laughing stock of the tournament but we’re into the knockout stages.

The significance of March 6 as Ghana’s Independence Day.
The Bond of 1844 was an agreement signed on March 6, 1844, between Commander H.W. Hill (the Lieutenant Governor of the British Gold Coast Settlements at the time) and a group of chiefs.
The Bond didn't technically turn the Gold Coast into a colony immediately (it was initially a legal agreement for the British to help adjudicate crimes) but it is widely viewed by historians as the "legal" foot-in-the-door that led to total British colonial rule.
The choice of March 6 for Independence Day was intentional.
Dr. Kwame Nkrumah chose that specific date to deliberately reverse the Bond of 1844.
By declaring independence on the 113th anniversary of the Bond, Nkrumah symbolically "abrogated" the agreement and signaled that the period of British influence was officially over.
Nkrumah was a master of political branding. His choice of the Northern Fugu (also known as a Batakari) at the Polo Ground instead of a Western suit or even the traditional Southern Kente cloth was a calculated, beautiful gesture.
The Fugu represents resilience, strength, and the "common man."
By wearing the Northern attire while standing in Accra (the South), Nkrumah was visually communicating that Ghana was one united nation, transcending ethnic and regional lines.
His famous declaration, "At long last, the battle has ended! And thus, Ghana, your beloved country is free forever," perfectly complemented the "warrior" aesthetic of the Fugu.
The word “Ghana" means "Warrior King" in the Soninke language, and it was a title originating from the rulers of the ancient Ghana Empire.
It signaled that the political struggle (the "battle") against colonialism was won.
Happy Independence Day.
