Why do we need to calculate the rotational moment on the pivot? In theory, the pivot does not take the rotational moment. Yes, it’s truth but only for the moments around the pivot axis. In the real world on the aerial work platform there are moments in other directions perpendicular to the pivot axis, and these are the loads that must be checked.

Every vehicle design starts with meticulous process of calculation of the upper structure, frame and axles load. All wheels, drive vehicle of 5.6 ton of gross weight can travel with 1.5 ton of equipment a part of the work platform on it, and it can still easily drive through fields and rough terrain.
