Why nothing you’re doing for weight loss is working after 50 💁♀️ and it’s not what you think.👇
1. When estrogen declines, your body’s relationship with fat storage changes completely. Visceral fat — the deep belly fat around your organs — increases. Not because you’re eating more. Because your hormonal signals shifted.
2. At the same time, insulin sensitivity drops. Carbs you used to handle fine now spike your blood sugar harder and faster. Your body stores more, burns less. The old diet that worked? Doesn’t map onto this biology.
3. Your resting metabolic rate slows. Your muscle mass declines faster without active intervention. Two things that make weight management harder happen simultaneously, and are driven by the same hormonal shift.
4. And then you go to your doctor, and you get: “Eat less, move more.” Which is technically not wrong. But it’s about as useful as telling someone with a broken leg to walk it off.
5. The new Her Side of Health issue covers all of this — what’s actually happening, what helps, and the scripts to get better answers from your provider.

Has this happened to you? You’re in the middle of telling a story, and the word just disappears. Gone. You stand there doing the face — you know the one — while your brain frantically searches for a noun it used to know perfectly well.
I’ve been there. So have most of the women I talk to. And for a long time, I thought it was just stress, or aging, or not getting enough sleep.
The fog isn’t in your head. Well, it is — but it has a real, neurological reason.
This week’s issue of Her Side of Health is all about perimenopause brain fog: what’s actually happening, why providers often miss it, and what you can do starting this week.
I also put together a free 2-page Brain Fog Log and Doctor Visit Toolkit so you can track your symptoms and walk into your next appointment feeling prepared instead of overwhelmed.
If this sounds like you — or someone you know — the link to subscribe is in the comments. It’s always free. 👇

😳It’s 3 a.m.
😳You’re wide awake.
😳No reason. No noise. Just... awake.
If this is your life right now, I need you to know: it’s not stress. It’s not aging. And it is absolutely not in your head.
It’s perimenopause — specifically, the drop in progesterone that quietly dismantles your sleep from the inside out.
In this week’s issue of Her Side of Health, I break down:
✅ Why progesterone loss disrupts deep, slow-wave sleep
✅ The cortisol spike that keeps waking you up at 3–4 a.m.
✅ What to actually say to your doctor (copy-paste scripts included)
✅ 5 small, evidence-backed things you can try this week
You’ve been tired long enough. Let’s talk about what’s really going on.

.
Perimenopause is quietly rewriting the rules for your vaginal health, and most women are never told what’s really going on.
.
In this new Her Side of Health newsletter, I connect the dots between hormones, pH, and recurring BV, then give you practical ways to change the pattern and language you can use with your doctor.

I got tired of watching women suffer through UTI after UTI with nothing but a prescription and no real answers. So I wrote the book that puts you in charge of your own UTI self-care — right alongside your doctor.
Because here’s the thing — you are in your body every day. Not just during a 10-minute office visit.
Your UTI Guide: Stop Suffering from Recurring UTIs — The Natural Way covers the natural remedies, dietary strategies, and prevention habits that help break the recurring UTI cycle. Real information, in plain language, so you can take a more proactive role in your own urinary health.
Not a substitute for medical care. A complement to it. 📚

Perimenopause and UTIs — don't believe everything you've been told.
I want to bust 3 myths about UTIs after 40 — because they're quietly keeping women from getting the care they actually need.
Myth #1: Recurring UTIs mean you're not being careful enough with hygiene.
The truth? In perimenopause, recurrence is almost always driven by declining estrogen — not anything you're doing wrong. Framing it as a hygiene issue puts shame on women and completely misses the cause.
Myth #2: A negative urine culture means nothing is wrong.
The truth? There's a condition called Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause that causes genuine urinary symptoms — urgency, burning, frequency — with a totally negative culture. No bacteria found doesn't mean no problem.
Myth #3: Vaginal estrogen is risky or only for postmenopausal women.
The truth? Local vaginal estrogen has minimal systemic absorption and solid clinical evidence behind it. It's one of the most underused tools in women's midlife healthcare.
If any of this is new information, my latest Her Side of Health newsletter was written for exactly this moment. Subscribe free — link in comments. 📷

UTIs and perimenopause — nobody told me my estrogen was protecting my bladder.
Or that when it drops, UTIs don't just happen more — they become harder to treat.
Or that there's a condition called GSM that causes UTI symptoms even with a negative culture.

Tomorrow I'm launching Her Side of Health — a newsletter for women who've been told their labs are "normal" but still don't feel like themselves.
Issue #1 is all about the perimenopause lab gap 🧪
Spoiler: normal ≠ optimal. And that difference matters more than most doctors have time to explain.
