A Thread to cover all official updates we had on "Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake" since announcement until cancellation.
A painful and long journey for passionate fans who were betrayed by corporate greed.

@princeofpersia Fun fact: this same documentary you are using has a dedicated section to a project that you've cancelled hypocrites!!
The Creative Director who was interviewed in it got laid off.
Clowns
@Alex_Gnn Irrelevant as the 35th anniv revival plan has been killed and the IP is effectively dead, does it even matter now?
Who knows when Ubi will pull the plug from RPoP and EE aswell.
@princeofpersia Great and happy for EE.
Still, Ubisoft is a garbage company that always abused this IP for their benefit and when time was for them to embrace it they shamelessly mocked the community, laid off the devs and spit in our face after SIX YEARS of promises. Absolute garbage
@TheRealZephryss Those leakers better step up their game and leak Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake.
PoP fans deserve to see what Ubisoft was making in 6 years whether even if it's the worst game ever.
Prince of Persia®: The Sands of Time has officially joined the GOG Preservation Program! ⏳
👉 Get it now: https://t.co/DxNMkDv0jl
Fully optimized for modern PCs, it now features native widescreen and ultrawide support, intelligent FOV scaling, multi-monitor mouse lock, an FPS limiter, and a new in-game overlay for real-time setting tweaks.
Ready to defy gravity and rewind time with flawless performance?
@NateTheHate2@KratosFromWish Now that Black flag remake is a big success for Ubisoft.
Do you think they might reconsider reviving Prince of Persia Remake?
@KindredBlade@Ubisoft Just PR statements.
Everytime they miss up something they come out and claim they care about the IP yet it is dead now.
Bunch of liars
So, Ubisoft says doing remakes saves money and makes profit.
They develop remakes reusing existing assets and technology. Also, remakes need less marketing since players already know the franchise.
Now please, for the love of God, someone explain why Ubisoft canceled the Prince of Persia remake. Development was at an advanced stage, with many journalists even claiming that it was ready to be released.
@Shi_kaDDY@TheGameVerse Montreal rebooted development in Mid/late 2022, so they already been doing their version for 3.5 years by cancellation time back in Jan.
Based on what we know it only needed a year at worst case which is much closer than other doomed Ubi projects like BG&E2 which isn't cancelled
@popuniversee@Ubisoft So they could dump all the money into their cash cow Open World GaaS and MTX BS which can't be done with Prince of Persia Remake.
Miserable company
@spartan523_@Wario64@bogorad222 This is a timeline for what happened.
Now fingers crossed that PoP deserves much better than what Ubi gave it.
We shall see they do next

@spartan523_@Wario64@bogorad222 No they didn't rework after the backlash immediately.
They delayed it then outsourced it to other studio to polish it until Montreal took it in May 2022 and they didn't even reboot dev until Mid/late 2022.
This just shows Ubisoft terrible mismanagement.
