A bill to increase the amount of funding to the LARE Program via boating registration fees was signed into statute. Another bill establishes a way to create Watershed Development Commissions, similar to river basin commissions, that can create a fee base for work in their area.

The 2023 Indiana General Assembly increased funding for conservation and natural resources with a $10 million appropriation for the Benjamin Harrison Trust and a $5 million per year increase to the Clean Water Indiana appropriation.
