I have the deepest respect for the German people. I spent both winters and summers there growing up, and have tremendous admiration for the country.

But its foreign policy has been nothing short of an embarrassing disaster as of late.

From its support for the genocide in Gaza, ostensibly to "make up" for its conduct of another genocide (!?!), to its handling of the Iran file, to its recent direct and blatant attack and undermining of international law and the UN Charter.

As a result, I am not surprised in the least that Germany lost its bid for a UNSC elected seat, despite being the second-largest financial contributor to the UN and for its leadership role negotiating the Pact of the Future.

In fact, it is justice that Germany lost.

Hopefully, it will prompt some serious rethinking in Berlin. The world will be better off if Germany goes back to the country it was in 2003, when it rightfully stood up for international law and opposed the invasion of Iraq.

أن يقول وزير خارجية أمريكا إن إسرائيل ليس لديها مطامع في أراضي لبنان في شهادته الرسمية أمام لجنة الخارجية في الكونغرس، فهذا موقف يُسجّل للتاريخ واعتراف باحترام الأراضي اللبنانية من أكثر دولة قادرة على الضغط على إسرائيل.

الإسراع في إنجاز اتفاق يسمح بانسحاب كامل ووقف العدوان عبر المفاوضات المباشرة ممكن تحقيقه عبر ما يجري في واشنطن.

Looking into the terms of this agreement, it is not a ceasefire. It is an agreement to limit the conflict to southern Lebanon. Israel will not bomb Beirut. Hezbollah will not bomb Israel proper. If this is kept it is a massive victory for Hezbollah because it allows it to keep killing IDF soldiers in southern Lebanon while Israel is not allowed to attack Beirut. But like all ceasefires, Israel will not obey it anyway.

Bibi’s foolish move to expand the war into Lebanon is one of the gravest mistakes he did since Oct 7.
Israel lost most of the achievements of its previous war against Hezbollah, lost its deterrence, and paid with many lives.

لا شيء يمكن ان يبرر الإعتداءات المتواصلة التي تتعرض لها منطقتي صور والنبطية وتدمير معالمها التاريخية، ولا التهديدات المستمرة التي تطال أهلنا الآمنين فيها، ولا الدعوات المتكررة لهم لمغادرة بيوتهم وترك أرزاقهم، بما يرقى إلى العقاب الجماعي الذي تدينه كل الأعراف والشرائع الدولية.
ان هذا يجعلنا اكثر تمسكاً بضرورة الوقف الفوري لإطلاق النار، والعمل على الانسحاب الاسرائيلي الكامل من بلادنا، وبسط سلطة الدولة على كامل أراضيها، بما يسمح بعودة كل النازحين إلى ديارهم بأمن وكرامة.

The attacks today in Iran were an indication of the following:

1) the U.S. maintains that any attempt to mine the Strait of Hormuz is an act of war that will be met with immediate force.

2) The attacks are an attempt to regain the upper hand in negotiations that are not going well.

3) The U.S. is signaling that it will not tolerate low-level harassment or "shadow war" tactics during the peace talks.

4) On a political level it shows that Trump is not comfortable with the emerging deal and wants to postpone admitting he lost.

If the US really wanted a deal now, it would not have happened. Trump knows he has no real military option, but is scared of the political consequences of accepting a deal that would be worse than the JCPOA. So he escalates with no real plan.

وقال الرئيس عون : "إنَّ الذين حرَّروا الجنوب بدمائهم ، عسكريين ومقاومين ، كما جميع اللبنانيين ، يستحقون دولة قوية متماسكة بشرعية مؤسساتها المدنية والعسكرية ، وعادلةً بقوانين لا تمييز فيها ، وموحَّدة بارادة شعبها وتضامنهم .
إنَّ أجلَّ وفاء لذكرى التحرير أن نبني دولة تكون حصن اللبنانيين جميعاً، وتكون السيادة فيها أمانة يحملها كلُ مواطن، ذلك ان لبنان لنا جميعاً، وتحرير الجنوب واجبٌ تتحمله الدولة بدعم ابنائها لانها في النتيجة خيار لا بديل عنه ".
