I'm tired of pretending this is fine.
I pay full tax. Full school fees. Full hospital bills. Full EMI, every month, on time. No subsidy comes down to me. No loophole exists up where I am. I'm stuck in the exact middle where nothing reaches.
The poor get support fair, they need it. The rich get write-offs, exemptions, structures I don't even understand how to access. And Me? I get a salary slip, a TDS deduction, and a "thank you for your contribution to nation building note"
I'm too well-off to qualify for anything. Too stretched to actually build anything. One medical emergency, one job loss, and this entire middle-class stability collapses like it was never real to begin with.
And I've finally understood why nobody fixes this: I'm the most reliable taxpayer this country has, and the least organized voter. I don't protest. I don't strike. I just pay, quietly, every single month so nobody in power has a reason to protect me.
So here's where I've landed. Nobody's coming to save the middle class. Save yourself, plan for yourself, protect what's yours because the system was never built to do it for you.
I'm not angry anymore. Just done expecting anything different.

**We Fund and Govt Doesn't Even Check If We're Okay.**
*A handful of us carry this system. In return, we don't even get a "how are you."*
We're not asking for charity. We're the ones actually funding it .every scheme, every subsidy, every salary in institutions that are supposed to serve us.
That makes us the client. The sponsor. The reason any of this runs at all.
So how does the system treat the people funding it? Like we're invisible.
School fees, hospital bills, emergencies we handle all of it alone, full price, no support, while still paying full tax on top. Nobody checks. Nobody asks. We're just expected to keep showing up and keep paying.
And the day we stop earning? We vanish. No follow-up. No "are you managing okay." Just silence, like we were never part of the system we spent our whole working life funding.
There's a story about a pizza company that noticed a regular customer had gone quiet for too long and reached out just to check if he was alive and well.
A random business cared more about one silent customer than a government cares about the people funding its entire existence.
We don't need to be thanked. We just need to be seen.
Anyone else feel completely invisible to the system you've spent your life funding?

@travelofindia Exactly Hafta vasooli is the right word for it. 1% every quarter, no excuse.
Meanwhile they hold our refunds and pay us half that rate back. Same delay, different rules depending on who's late.
The Interest Rate Scam Nobody Talks About
They charge us double. We take what we get.
Miss your advance tax? 1% per month penalty. No grace, no excuse.
They hold your refund your own overpaid TDS for months? 0.5% per month. Half. Not a mistake. Written into law that way, on purpose.
We get punished at double the rate for being late. They get to sit on our money and pay us pocket change for the wait.
Call it whatever you want. It's not fairness. It's a system that penalizes us and barely compensates itself.
Same money. Same delay. Different rules depending on who's holding it.

@indtxpyr Exactly. Abolish direct tax. Fix GST properly instead. There's a massive cash-driven economy sitting completely untouched right now that's where the real money is. Widen that base, not squeeze the same salaried few harder every year.
@Basappamv There is a reason why india is a high corrupted system . They treat the real contributor (pvt emp) like they never exist .here is my take

After paying road tax. In return you will get potholes that can kill, bridges that can collapse.
We miss one payment, we get fined instantly. No grace, no excuse.
Bridge collapses, people die who gets fined for that? Nobody. Zero accountability, ever.
If you're still alive commuting on Indian roads, that's not infrastructure working. That's just luck. We pay like clients. We get treated like nobody's watching.
@Ravisutanjani Severance is the only buffer between unemployment and rent and other due next week and the government still shows up asking for its cut. No exceptions. No timing. No empathy.
Private employees already have zero job security. Least the system could do is not tax the amount.
Visa Just Laid Off 2,600 People. Guess Who Still Gets Taxed Anyway.
Severance is supposed to be a cushion. The Policy Maker doesn't see it that way.
Visa cut roughly 2,600 jobs 7% of its workforce this week, mostly from tech and product teams. For every Indian employee caught in cuts like this, here's the reality severance pay still gets taxed as regular income, at a moment when you have zero income coming in.
This is the exact moment someone needs support no salary, mounting expenses, urgent job search and instead of relief, there's a tax bill on the one cushion meant to help them land.
Meanwhile, countries with real worker-support systems treat layoffs differently unemployment benefits, transition support, tax relief on severance specifically because it's compensation for job loss, not income for work done.
In India? Pay the tax first. Then figure out the rest alone.
We don't need charity. We need a system that recognizes the difference between income and a safety net.

@ggganeshh But Irony is the same tax payers are not relevent , A random business cared more about one silent customer than a government cares about the people funding its entire existence. No govt ever shows intented to change the current system .
**Where does your tax money actually go? Part 1: Income Tax**
You pay it first before rent, before EMI, before you even see your full salary.
Personal income tax collections grew just 4.9% this year (Apr-Jan FY26), down sharply from 22% the year before, according to EY India Watch report. Compare that to corporate tax, which grew nearly three times faster at 14.7% over the same period.
₹12.9 lakh crore collected last year, from roughly 3-4 crore people out of 140+ crore Indians less than 3% of the population carrying the full direct income tax load.
Where it's meant to go interest payments take the single largest share of government spending, followed by defence, subsidies, and central schemes. States get a share too nearly a fifth of every rupee collected passes through to them.
But ask any salaried taxpayer to trace their specific rupee which scheme, which project, which outcome and nobody has an answer. Not because it's classified. Because no dashboard was ever built to actually show us.
Even with government's own fiscal deficit already at 63% of its full-year target by January, with two months still left
the money keeps moving fast. Visibility into where it lands doesn't move at all.
Next Part 2 -GST, and how much of what you spend every single day quietly funds the same system.
Follow for more breakdowns like this real numbers, not slogans.
