The 12th Meeting of the India–Malaysia Joint Sub-Committee on Defence Science, Technology and Industry Cooperation was held on 3 July 2026 in New Delhi.
The meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Vijay Namdeorao Zade, Joint Secretary (Naval Systems), Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, from the Indian side, and Mr. Mohd Nizam Bin Mohd Khir, Undersecretary, Defence Industry Division, Ministry of Defence, from the Malaysian side.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to long-term cooperation and strengthening defence industrial ties between the two countries.

Defence Acquisition Council, chaired by Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh, has accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for proposals worth Rs 52,000 crore to strengthen the Defence Forces. For the Indian Army, approvals include AKASH TARANG Anti-UAV EW System, MPATGM, MRSAM, V-SHORADS, Active Protection System for Tanks, and Jet-Based Kamikaze Drones. For the @indiannavy, procurement of Multi Influence Ground Mine, Naval Shipborne UAS, and a Land-Based Testing Facility for Electric Propulsion has been cleared. For the Indian Air Force, approval has been given for Fixed-Wing High Altitude Pseudo Satellite (FW-HAPS) and other proposals. These acquisitions will bolster India’s defence preparedness, resilience, and technological edge.

Regional industries must become partners in Viksit Bharat journey : Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has called upon regional industries to become partners in the journey by transforming regional strengths into national capabilities, local innovations into global competitiveness, and industrial growth into strategic strength.
Raksha Mantri, in his address during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Vadodara on June 30, 2026 stated that under #AatmanirbharBharat initiative India is fostering indigenous capabilities in strategic sectors such as aerospace and defence. The budgetary provisions for modernisation and capital procurement aim to encourage domestic industries and integrate them into the global supply chain. In order to boost investment, licensing policy has been simplified and liberalised FDI policy. Srijan Portal, iDEX, Defence Testing Infrastructure, Green Channel Certification and Self-Certification have instilled confidence in small industries and Start-ups.
Raksha Mantri further stated that domestic defence production has surged to a record high of ₹ 1.78 lakh crore from just ₹ 46,000 crore in 2014 and defence exports have soared to an all-time high of ₹ 38,424 crore.

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh unveiled major reform to enhance efficiency, accountability & timely execution of strategic R&D projects by releasing the DFP-2026 to DRDO. Raksha Mantri said that the DFP 2026 will facilitate faster production and induction of systems, platforms & technologies emerging from the R&D ecosystem into the Defence forces and the new framework will foster stronger collaboration with the industry and academia, reinforcing the vision of #AatmanirbharBharat.
The DFP-2026 aims to significantly enhance functional empowerment at various levels within the Defence sector.

Bhoomi Pujan for 10,000-Tons Aluminium Extrusion Press at YIL, Nagpur
Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh today performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the state-of-the-art 10,000-Tons Aluminium Extrusion Press, along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis at Ordnance Factory Ambajhari, Nagpur, a unit of Yantra India Ltd (YIL). Raksha Mantri asserted that the Extrusion Press symbolises a shift in the country's approach from relying on imports to producing critical goods domestically. He described taking control of security-related necessities as imperative in the present geopolitical scenario to remain future-ready.
The decision to set up Aluminium Extrusion Press will prove another major step towards #Aatmanirbharta in #DefenceProduction by reducing the dependence on critical aluminium extruded components. It will strengthen the nation’s capability to produce large, high-strength and precision aluminium alloy extrusions to cater to the requirements of defence & aerospace sectors.
