In an uncertain world, #Europe may need to rethink rigid alliances. #India’s multi-alignment, often dismissed as fence-sitting, shows how strategic non-dualism, dialogue, and flexibility can preserve autonomy without abandoning red lines: @AmritaNarlikar https://t.co/46nALSidb2
At a moment when India is grappling with fresh diplomatic and strategic challenges, the deadly car explosion near the Red Fort in Old Delhi has delivered a grim reminder that terrorism remains a live threat to internal security. The timing is ominous: The blast came soon after police uncovered a terror module with a massive cache of explosives — nearly 2,900 kilograms — pointing to a coordinated plot targeting the National Capital Region (NCR).
More disturbing is the profile of some of those arrested. The alleged involvement of doctors and other professionals suggests the emergence of a “white-collar” terror network capable of planning and executing sophisticated operations under the radar of traditional security surveillance. Initial investigations point to possible interstate and transnational linkages with outlawed groups such as the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed, underscoring that the infrastructure of cross-border terrorism remains intact.
The episode is a sobering reminder that the frontlines of national security lie as much within India's cities as along its borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Op-eds in Indian business dailies analysing the 2025 economics Nobel won by Mokyr, Aghion & Howitt wonder what leads to growth & progress in some countries & not in others. They miss the point. The West used a potent mix of science & colonialism between 1700 & 2000 to forge ahead. The colonised minds of Indian op-ed writers can’t figure that out.
An ocean of energy opportunities opens up in the Andaman Sea!
Very happy to report the occurrence of natural gas in Sri Vijayapuram 2 well at a distance of 9.20 NM (17 km) from the shoreline on the east coast of the Andaman Islands at a water depth of 295 meters and target depth of 2650 meters.
Initial production testing of the well in the range of 2212 – 2250 meters has established the presence of natural gas with intermittent flaring. The gas samples were brought by ship to Kakinada, were tested and found to be 87% methane.
The size of the gas pool and commercial viability of the discovery will get verified in the coming months but establishing the presence of hydrocarbons in the Andaman basin is a major step in confirming our long held belief that Andaman basin is rich in natural gas, in line with discoveries in the entire area from Myanmar in North to Indonesia in the south in this belt.
Under the deepwater mission announced by Hon’ble PM @narendramodi Ji on Independence Day, large number of deepwater exploration wells are planned in our offshore basins in order to find new discoveries and fully exploit our hydrocarbon reserves.
This occurrence of natural gas will help us in taking forward our exploration ambitions in coordination with global deepwater exploration experts like @petrobras @bp_india@Shell@exxonmobil and will be a significant milestone in our journey through Amrit Kaal!

Interesting take. Turkey's KAAN isn't even mentioned as a current fifth generation fighter.

From India being ruled in the name of the 'Queen' to the masks of the Indian Ruler being worn in the UK parliament. We've come a long way :D. This is endearing.
This may have registered as barely a blip on most Indian minds, but it is a worrying portent of things to come. There is an increasing sense of frustration in Bangladesh with both major parties — the (now banned) Awami League and the Bangladesh National Party. Those who wish “a plague on both your houses” are increasingly turning to the Jamaat-e-Islami, not because these voters are zealots or Islamist fundamentalists, but because the JeI are not tainted by the corruption and misgovernance associated, rightly or wrongly, with the two mainstream parties. How will this play out in the Feb 2026 general elections? Will New Delhi be dealing with a Jamaat majority next door?
The American-led post-World War II global order is fading without a clear successor. In this uncertain interregnum, there is a growing risk of the world fracturing into rival geopolitical and economic blocs. https://t.co/fZ8dIVIGkK
Great move. Hedge against the dollar inflation.

Trump has painted himself into a corner on India. And India’s refusal to indulge in even token ego massage has made Trump now sound more whining than hostile.
Looks like the imperialist wants to end this standoff.
My take:
Unlike Communist China, the rise of a democratic India does not threaten the free world.
Partnership between the U.S. and India to counter China should be a no-brainer. It would serve America's interests to help India stand up to China.

Had a very good and detailed conversation with my friend President Putin. I thanked him for sharing the latest developments on Ukraine. We also reviewed the progress in our bilateral agenda, and reaffirmed our commitment to further deepen the India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership. I look forward to hosting President Putin in India later this year.

Seizing countries’ foreign reserves and denying tech - a flailing superpower is willing to diminish its credibility in an attempt to exert control. This is entirely counterproductive. The imperative for major and rising powers to diversify away from the dollar and indigenize technology development will only accelerate, chipping away on the margins at US hegemony. Once alternatives emerge, the speed at which the US will lose grip over global affairs will be make the world a far more dangerous place.
