The past week, technicians from IOT were at CTI to set up the numerous mobile computer labs throughout the entire building we will need for the classes.
In just 7 days, more than 300 employees from across the state will be gathering at the Correctional Training Institute for the DELTA Train the Trainer sessions scheduled to start on Nov. 14.
During this two and half weeks of training, we will prepare our instructors to train more than 2,000 staff in the field beginning in January and running through March 2023.
Ashley Johnson instructed the Coaching in Action with Youth class this MAC Academy at the Correctional Training Institute. This class uses several role-playing scenarios to help staff in their de-escalation skills when specifically working with our youth. Thanks, Ashley!
The Correctional Training Institute completed its Mock ACA Walk through on Wednesday in preparation for our Official Audit. Department Policy Manager Andy Dunigan gave our facility a lot of positive feedback and commented on the cleanliness and organization of the facility.
Last Friday at CTI, the Employee Engagement Committee presented ideas to IDOC executive staff to improve wellness for staff, from boosting morale to employee recognition week, mental health exercises, a 4-day work week, and more! Thanks to the Committee for all your hard work!
Staff Development & Training wants to congratulate Jerome Williams for being named the Indiana Department of Correctionβs Rising Star. Jerome joined the Recruitment and Retention Team on Sept 1, 2021 and since then has quickly built a repour with all the staff at his facilities.
He started his career at Edinburgh Correctional Facility as an officer and became the PREA Coordinator before coming to the R&R team. Most recently Jerome took it upon himself to head up the IDOCβs 5K series, organizing runs in various locations throughout the state.
SD&T has tasked all itβs facilities with completing this βstoryboardingβ process to update tasks sheets and to make sure the job new employees are learning during their OJT is exactly what they need to know once they are released from the program to work in the facility.
Staff Development & Training recently worked with a custody staff team to help create new on-the-job task sheets for the New Employee Training Programβs On-the-Job Training at Westville Correctional Facility.
