So... WHAT IF THE TOURNAMENT WERE "SEEDED"?

We redrew the 2026 girls bracket so top 2 teams in every sectional can only meet in final. Regionals, the sectional w/best team plays sectional w/8th-best in their half of state, 1 v 8, 2 v 7, etc.

Same teams. Hypothetical bracket. 👇

[IndianaPrepVolleyball.com @IndianaPrepVB]

Example, 4A North:

1 Carroll (FW) v 8 Warsaw
2 Westfield v 7 Homestead
3 Penn v 6 Lake Central
4 Chesterton v 5 Harrison (WL)

That's the top team in each sectional, seeded 1 thru 8. Upset the fav = take their spot.

Semistate, 1/8 plays 4/5. 2/7 plays 3/6.

Food for thought.

[IndianaPrepVolleyball.com @IndianaPrepVB]

How the regional seeding works 👇

Each half of the state has 8 sectionals in every class. We ranked them 1 to 8 by their best team's Z-Rank.

Then it's bracket math: 1 v 8, 2 v 7, 3 v 6, 4 v 5.

The best sectional favorite gets the weakest one, like March Madness.

@RyanWalkerHU They are the highest-rated team in the regional. That's correct. Have fun with the filters at the top of the screenshot!

How does the Site Projector work??

Each half’s 16 regionals are placed to keep total travel for all 32 teams as low as possible, while attempting to schedule two different classes at each location. This is a projection; IHSAA announces actual assignments after sectional finals.
