Be heard - also, due to COVID you can submit comments to the City County Council meeting virtually without showing up in person, just saying... @indy10people#defundimpd
"It was a huge spit in the face..."
“How else do you describe an action from someone who supported a person who has said racist comments about Latinos?” https://t.co/7ts0RRm9PS via @indystar
A little feel good story for your Wednesday:
I was walking around the park in downtown Indy and spotted local barber Kenny Cousins giving free haircuts. It’s his day off but he wanted to do this. Chuck on the left and Danny in the chair got theirs done. Some really awesome guys.
More. Police. Is. Not. The. Answer. @IndyMayorJoe is failing our city by trying to shove the issues back under the rug and act like they don’t exist. Will someone lead this damn city? @IndyCouncil@VoteVop?!
Wanna know why our schools are under funded? Wanna know why our roads are utter shit? Wanna know why our city is falling apart? Because @IndyCouncil thinks taking $24m off the tax books is a “good move” @VoteVop smh #VoteThemAllOut
Black people are still experiencing "for the first time in history" moments and it's 2020. Just a reminder when you decide you're tired of talking about systemic barriers to our collective progress.
Marion County residents: Indiana’s eviction moratorium ended Friday. Are you on the waitlist for rental assistance? Are you facing possible housing loss? If you are interested in sharing your story, DM me or email [email protected]. I would love to talk.
“Obeying the law” is a loaded statement - who decides that? The Feds and Police - how many times have they “manufcatured” reasons to arrest people? Enough that just “obeying the law” does not protect you from the law. #defundimpd#FedsGoHome@IndyMayorJoe
NEW: @jacobbogage got USPS data showing at least 671 USPS mail sorting machines have been removed across the country since June. Represents a reduction in national mail sorting capacity of 21.4 million pieces of mail per hour. https://t.co/6lOGfByZBC
It has been 100 days since IMPD shot and killed Dreasjon Reed and McHale Rose.
The city of Indianapolis and IMPD continue to disregard calls for accountability and transparency.
Stay tuned for week of action.

A great use of the “welfare queen” trope: the idea that folks who receive $ from the gov are living lavishly rather than tending to their basic needs. A seterotype that causes actual harm to working families. Ppl w/ power (landlords) use these ideas to justify violence.
The budget we need for 2021 would move more resources into housing for unsheltered folks, harm reduction, protections for workers, and violence prevention. We need to see major change in budget line items, not just more lip service, from Frey.
