Hell Bent.
Ok I’m skipping talking about a few stories here I’ll probs get back to, but I’ve just finished Hell Bent so instead of posting 50 tweets here’s screenshots of my review on TARDISguide
I knew that after this there are 3 Mary and the Doctor stories already, but I wasn’t expecting the time travel funkiness of this one. I liked it. Hyped for their stories together!
The Company of Friends: Mary’s Story.
Thought this one was cool! Bit weird now that The Haunting of Villa Diodati is a thing but I can ignore that.
The story being pretty much Frankenstein is something that could’ve felt very cheesy, and this probs does but I think it works.
The Company of Friends: Izzy’s Story. A really cartoony silly one in a way that I really liked. Izzy felt a bit over the top, it’s my first time with her, but still enjoyed it and thought her dynamic with the Eighth Doctor was quite different to what I’m used to with him.
Does-
The Company of Friends: Fitz’s Story.
Just a short fun story. Not met Fitz before, I enjoyed him and thought he had good chemistry with the Doctor. Definitely need to check the Eight Doctor books at some point.
But yeah fun short story.
The Company of Friends: Benny’s Story.
I love the Bernice Summerfield series but I’ve not yet heard any audios of her with the Doctor, so finally seeing them together was great! Nothing wild, just a fun lil story with lots of technobabble and fun Doctor/Benny interactions
everyone got spin offs. A bit of a none ending. But won’t really know my thoughts there till I’ve listened to Charley and 6’s stories, which probs won’t be for a while.
Ignoring that, yeah I really enjoyed this story. End of an era.
The Girl Who Never Was. I’d seen negative responses to this one so was kinda expecting it to be be not great. But nah, I really enjoyed it. A few moments I did get a little lost, but I thought the swapping between times was cool and I enjoyed the supporting cast. And the -
Cybermen! I thought they were used really well and I loved the more Mondasian kinda voice these ones have.
Not 100% sure how I feel about it as an end of Charley and the 8th Doctor’s time together. I know Charley joins 6 so does remind of of how the Walking Dead ended were
I really like this one. The Daleks aren’t in it much but I think they still have a good presence whenever they show up, as the overlords controlling everything.
I’m a big Terminator fan and this was pretty much that. Before Terminator! So that was fun. Also
