Some treated the warning signs as a call for reform.
Others treated them as a temporary inconvenience.
The difference is becoming increasingly obvious.

We keep asking why India isn't in the 2026 World Cup, but the real question is why we couldn't even qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup.

Football fans from India are talking WC 2026, but Indian Football fans are worried about WC 2030 qualifiers, which start in Nov 2027. Agar aaj aap badlav nahi mangoge to badlav 2030 FIFA World Cup qualifiers se pehle nahi aayega. Sabse bada saawal ye hai ki agar ham saath mil ke saawal nahi puchenge sahi time pe to sayad badlav khabi nahi aayega.
The budget collapsed. State leagues are dead. Age fraud is rampant. And our grassroots development is a joke. Just changing the coach won't fix a broken administration and system.
I laid out the EXACT reasons why Indian Football is going backwards and what the actual road ahead looks like. The harsh reality of Indian Football
@singh_prakash Sir, modern football is a dual nationality sports, all African teams in the WC have European origin players, Cape Verde and Curacao too, this is how these small poor nations play in FIFA WC, but Indian doesn't allow dual nationality, we need OCI players in the team
Today's Telegram ban is proof of why an indigenous social media or messaging app can never grow in India.
If @durov was Indian, he would be in jail along with his entire team and his entire infrastructure seized because a question paper was supposedly leaked on Telegram. It would have taken a few months to get bail. Line of FIRs stretching to Kanyakumari. Court cases dragging on for a decade or more. TV channels would have gone to town with all kinds of consipracies of how Soros is involved.
We have vaguely written laws, open to the worst interpretation and bureaucratic overreactions. It's not a stable foundation for anyone to build on.
The same applies to now AI. Anyday someone will be offended in this country by anything an indigenous AI generates in text or images and the founders can find themselves in jail and fighting court cases.
The airport is operational. An airport metro is in planning, the road to Faridabad is in the works, and now an expressway bypass is planned. All these couldn't happen together for some reason or reasons. It's the same old story every time.
India’s IT ministry banned Telegram for one week because some users shared leaked exam questions.
This punishes 150M+ ordinary Telegram users in India — not the insiders who leaked the exam materials.
And the ban hasn't stopped anything. The leaks just moved to other apps.
@deeeprofessor@chonkypod Most of the African countries have dual nationality players, there players are born in West, train and play in west, Football is a dual nationality sport, Cape Verde, the small nation that drew will Spain, all there players reside outside of the country, same with Morocco
It is not my team, it is our country. If you feel you need an incentive to support your national team, then I honestly don't know what to say.
Going by that logic, countries like Bangladesh should have no support either. Yet their fans proudly back the national team despite being ranked 181 because they love both their country and football. The same can be said for Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Tajikistan and many others across Asia.
Do you think every lower-league club in Europe plays great football? Of course not. Their fans still turn up because they love the game and feel a connection to their city and club.
Support is not always about success. Sometimes it is simply about belonging.
Both cricket & football can co-exist in India.
Just few things needs to be fixed immediately.
More multi-sport infrastructure is needed in India. Right now, most new stadiums being built are cricket-centric.
Urban planning must also prioritize large playgrounds and open spaces. Many children today simply don't have a place to play.
Schools and universities must make sports a bigger part of student life. That's where the next generation of champions is shaped
That alone would solve many of the problems the Indian sports ecosystem faces today!!!
@day6596 These guys are European Football fans which is not as same as being an Indian football
They will wake up at 1 am midnight to watch there European club, but won't have any time to watch even a single minute of Indian Super League
Ignore them, support your national team
FIFA is organising a U-15 Football Festival in the USA in September 2026, with all 211 member associations invited to participate.
Hopefully India will be there. With AIFF’s leadership currently attending the FIFA World Cup 2026, this is the perfect opportunity to ensure all arrangements are put in place for the India U-15 team to take part. Opportunities like these are exactly what young players need. #IndianFootball @KhelNow
This is exactly why I tweeted:
If anyone wants to ask why India is not playing at the FIFA World Cup, or when India will play at the FIFA World Cup, ask Indian football fans and experts, not football fans and experts from India.
I am tired of hearing the same reasons and gyaan every four years when the World Cup comes around.
Talk about why India is not playing the World Cup when the next qualification cycle effectively starts in October 2027. Force AIFF to get the basic things right now, not wait until 2030 and then start asking the same questions all over again.
Football fans from India ≠ Indian football fans.
The “small nation big dreams” gimmick btw should only be reserved for South American or Asian teams btw.
These mfs train in the biggest nations and in the best facilities of Europe.
Curacao is Netherlands. Morocco is France.
@420_grams All these years of trying to fix the system, and still nothing has changed, let's try something new for once, you don't try going the failed route again and again, let's try this OCI thing once and see if it works. ~ A Frustrated IFT Fan
