#ICYMI I was on @NPR AllThings Considered to talk about what’s at stake in the #Brackeen#SCOTUS case. In short: it’s the future of Indigenous nations in the U.S.

If you're intrigued by @IndigenizeShop (and why wouldn't you be?) make sure to attend the @BuiltOregon Festival on Oct 21 when the cofounders take the stage https://t.co/uVSnXEvEq0 https://t.co/D3aAuIPqUr via @PDXBizMalia
I'm starting to think that a settler-colonial republic based on the writings of wealthy rebellious slaveholder farmers who didn't like paying taxes and who shot up the king's troops to get the right to genocide the locals and grab land may not be the best governmental structure.
Words like “hate” are not enough to diagnose the role of white supremacy in this political moment nor the history of our country.
It’s structural.
It not about how people feel.
#SCOTUS has granted CERT in the Brackeen case—a lawsuit that could overturn a 40 year old law created to stop family separation in Native communities and upend the legal structure defending Native rights in the US.

Greed & ambition are the simplest reasons for Indigenous identity fraud says @KimTallBear.
The bizarre compulsion to “play Indian” is a cunning form of colonial nationalism, “is about needing to feel that one has a moral authority to possess this land."

Right now my heart is with George Floyd’s daughter and with his family, and with many others. I want so badly for things to change. Justice must be a reality for people who haven’t ever known it. #BlackLivesMatter
