In the middle of Delhi’s brutal heatwave, a dehydrated Black Kite had collapsed, unable to even move.
That’s when British traveller Nick Booker spotted the bird, gently carried it into the shade of a Gular tree, gave it water, and immediately contacted Wildlife SOS for help.
The way the bird gulped down the water said everything.
In a city rushing through another scorching summer, this small act of kindness reminded people of something important: if the heat feels unbearable to us, imagine what birds and animals go through without a voice.
Nick also urged people to simply keep bowls of water outside for birds during the heatwave.
Sometimes, humanity is as simple as noticing someone silently suffering.

What a win! Can’t believe this is the fourth time I have come to India Gate to celebrate Indian winning a Cricket World Cup. I was here in 2007, in 2011, in 2024 and now in 2026! I wonder if anyone else been to India Gate on all four occasions?

I am so “shook” after meeting my fav instagrammer @Indo_Genius at @ndtv World Summit . He was curious to know about my book on GoldenEra legend #TalatMahmood and the only name that popped in his mind was ‘Sone Ki Chidiya’! OMG! That was his film from 1958. #author#SaharZaman

Lunar Eclipse in Delhi! Aryabhatta saw this coming 1500 years ago!
Are you experiencing this?
Over 1,500 years ago, Aryabhata gave us a scientific explanation of eclipses — not demons or mythology, but shadow geometry.
Aryabhata showed that a lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon enters Earth’s shadow, and he used precise mathematics — sine tables (which should really be called jyā (ज्या) - story for another reel), algorithms (which should really be called something like kramasutra!) and shadow-cone geometry which is way to complicated for me. He predicted their size, duration, and timing.
Aryabhata’s tradition also preserved something beautiful: his poetic descriptions of the colours of the eclipsed Moon. So much more evocative than the “Red Moon” descriptions we’ve been reading about today.
Here is Aryabhata on what we’ve just experienced…

sarvagrāse kapilaḥ sakṛṣṇatāṁ prāptaḥ samokṣaye ||
“At the end of an eclipse, the Moon looks smoky.
In a partial eclipse, it turns dark and blackish.
And in a total eclipse, the Moon glows reddish-brown, coppery — before fading back at its release.”
