I would like to speak out in support of @realDonaldTrump on tariffs. Donald Trump has recently lowered out trade deficits with the rest of the world to its lowest amount for 33 years according a Breitbart article I had read.
Regardless, Donald Trump has highlighted a real need for the President to be engaged in our trade policy, real time and at a granular level country by country.
Trump initially exposed how even our supposed allies had tariff regimes which were devastating our trade deficits and through that harming our country.
He also showed that the only real way to counter this is not with old trade agreements made years or even decades ago because the speed of commerce is now daily.
Tariffs are tools used by a country to limit the effects of the devaluation of their currency when they have a positive trade imbalance. When a country has a positive trade imbalance then this means they are sending more of their currency to foreign countries while not receiving enough of their own currency. Thus on the world stage there is an oversupply of their currency and as such the value of their currency drops. They need more money from the other country to buy their goods and a new equilibrium will be found zeroing out the trade deficits.
This zero trade is the default when there is free trade and an equal footing. It is also what we should be aiming toward.
The problem is that trade is a Nash equilibrium problem called the Prisoner's Dilemma. Two prisoners are caught and the best course of action is for both to stay silent and not turn on each other. If they do they get a year time in jail each. If one turns and the other does not he will get off with immunity while his partner gets 10 years and if both give evidence then they get five years.
Tariffs work the same way if I tariff you then when the money flows back to your country it is made up when you buy my goods through the tariff you pay. I get my currency back. The problem is the tariff overall reduces the trade and thus GDP. If I can tariff a country and they don't tariff me back then that country takes the brunt of the loss.
By limiting tariffs we increase the world Domestic product. This is Ricardo's theory of comparative advantage. Certain countries have natural advantages in producing products over their neighbors. Coffee is cheaper to produce in Ghana and has a greater quality due to the soil and climate. When there is free trade then Ghana is free to maximize their coffee production because they can buy wheat from places like Kansas.
When any country starts tariffing the other then that natural balance is disrupted. Countries will then be forced to stop producing goods they have advantages at in order to produce goods they need. Overall the economy will decline.
What Trump has shown us is that a President who takes this seriously and focuses on reducing tariffs can create a boon for the United States economy. This has to be managed however with negotiation and agreement and if need be some coercion.
The success of this is being lost in the current media nonsense.
The importance of this, is that this is something every president should begin their administration with a review of trade policy which they should implement and which is corrected on at lease an annual basis. The President should be evaluated by the American people on the success of their trade policy. There is an objective measure which can be pointed to, the national trade deficit. Furthermore, our individual trade balances with any foreign country can be evaluated to show objective evidence of our trade policy in dealing with them.
To this end the supreme court decision, even though it did not overwrite Trump's ability to continue his trade regimen points to a limitation the founding fathers did not see in the writing of the constitution. They lived in a time when wooden ships took a month to cross the Atlantic and trade negotiations took time, potentially years. At this timeframe there was enough time for trade policy to be controlled directly by congress.
In modern times congress has acknowledged this which is why there are laws in place that give the president some authority. I think what we are seeing with the lawfare easily limiting our President is that this must change.
I believe a new amendment to the constitution is necessary. One that alters the control of tariffs from congress to the executive. This should put the congress in the role of evaluating policy, possibly granting them control over tariff money collected but the trade deals and negotiations should be able to be done by the president through an executive order.
Congress could be given some authority overall trade direction but the ultimate authority is with the President and the executive.
You can say to me but this won't be passed at best while Trump is in office and it gives democrat President's this authority as well. I agree. It will give them the authority to do as they wish however it also gives them the responsibility for controlling it and as I mentioned there is a definitive objective measure as to the President's trade policies, the trade balance.
@Timcast I would be honored if you could please address these points on your show.
You in the Spectator are losers.
Why will you not post the leaked meeting with Pelley and CBS management. If Pelley is as you say a brave soul trying to save 60 minutes from the evil bad men in CBS who are doing the bidding of Orange Man Bad then you should want the unedited tape published for all to hear. Yet you hide it. Why?
@bariweiss is probably in the right!
All of the Black people mistreated by the police or others that become the main story of the media are problematic at best and the media lies about them.
Rodney King: The media took two of the baton strikes and looped them in such a way so that people assumed they were hitting him repeatedly while on the ground.
Truth is that King was on the ground with each of the four cops on a limb and managed to kip up and throw them off of him. Koon, the Sergeant in charge escalated the situation to lethal and since the chokehold was recently banned left only shooting King. So he ordered the cops to strike his joints arms and elbows because the pain would get through his drug haze and force him to give up. After two strikes King did. Those two are the only ones that happened. Looping it the way the press did was a outright lie. Koon was worried what he ordered might main King but felt it was better than shooting him. In the second trial only the two cops that struck King with that baton were convicted because they did not follow police procedure. Had the press been honest there may not have been a riot.
Every other major one has problems. Zimmerman was getting his head banged in a wall and Martin left the scene and come back five minutes later to attack Zimmerman.
The local paper in Missouri I believe reported the day after that the cop that shot Michael Brown was in the hospital with an ocular skull fracture. This is where the side of the skull that holds they eye is busted making it hard to keep the eye in its socket.
Floyd was in a state of excited delirium. The Rookie cop tried to get him turned on his side to keep pressure off his heart but Chauvin in charge went against that.
Yet, when there is a real travesty of justice the media downplays it. When the men trying to civilian arrest Aubry were convicted of murder the press dropped the story.
A cop in Savannah or NC I believe was seen releasing a smaller black man from cuffs while whispering in his ear. They guy immediately runs away and at ten yards the cop casually shoots him in the back killing him. The police benevolence society rabidly condemned him in a statement calling him a bad cop and stating he should burn in hell. Turns out the cop was dirty and working for drug dealers. The media never talked about this. I remember seeing the footage, it was from a street camera of a building so no audio.
From what I can see the only standard for the media on how these stories are given air time is the level of outrage and racial animus they can create. Flawed ones where the story is not accurate seem to be chosen so that people who look into it will find the errors so that the press can label those that speak out racist.
We have had decades of this nonsense and have not called it out or exposed it. Even today the lies remain. This is why there are such problems.
Mr. Musk,
Serious question.
Would it not be as important to make sustainable space stations which can operate in space. If they are large enough they can use water to block radiation and rotation to simulate earth gravity.
It would require harvesting comets and asteroids for material but it gives us much more ability to spread out.
I would submit to you sir that anyone who had to wait more than a year in jail with no bail on a misdemeanor trespassing charge is proof enough of prosecutorial abuse. That was probably 80% of the J6er or more.
Anyone arrested for the riot that day that was provably not in DC is proof enough of government abuse.
Anyone put in solitary confinement at all while awaiting trial let alone for having met with their lawyer is proof enough of abuse.
Anyone bullied into a plea deal because they were threatened is proof enough of abuse.
Anyone the DA's refused to allow access to capital camera footage for their defense is proof enough of abuse. BTW: That would be every J6er as it was not until Trump was in office that all of it was released.
Why are we weasel wording this @LindseyGrahamSC ?
You are better than this.
South Carolina is better than this.
The only difference between Biden's federal department and the Brassiji in Iran is the mass executions but if you do not make an example of the travesty of justice that occurred in response then next time the DemonRat Netherworld Coalition gets into power that will become a reality.
That party is run by monstrous murdering fascists.
the Great Depression was caused by other countries clipping their currency to manipulate there trade balance. They would quietly decide their currency that was say 20,000 marks per troy ton of silver is now 21,000 marks enabling them to print another 1,000 marks per metric ton of silver in their reserves. This led to US goods being too expensive in international trade because their currency was undervalued.
This caused issues for the US government who responded with the Smoot Hawley act that enacted tariffs on other countries and started a trade war because the US government did not negotiate with other countries.
This is why the gold standard was created in 1944 which set up the USA as the standard for currency. Our money was set to a quantity of gold we were required to maintain and every other currency floated against the US dollar. Agreement was no country modified their currency by more than 5%.
This ended in the 1970's when we spent too much money on Vietnam and the Space program. A new system was put in place called the Caribbean accord where every currency was simply paper backed by confidence.
Since then America has been losing multinationals as a % of the world's total compared to other countries. We have not managed our trade imbalance until very recently which is why it hit one trillion under Biden.
Trump has turned that around somewhat by making tariffs a negotiation with other countries. His efforts have led to our lowest trade deficit with the rest of the world around 20 something billion a month in 33 years.
The lawsuits have affected this but Trump is right about one thing. We can no longer afford to just accept the trade bans and tariffs of other countries and ignore the mounting trade deficit. Trump probably gained half his success just addressing the issue.
Going forward whether democrat or republican trade deficits have to be watched, trade advantages taken over the USA have to be directly addressed and we need to work to a zero trade imbalance which is the economic peak per trade theory.
The markets are not the cause of this, they are the reaction to it. This caused the crash.
I got bad news for you.
If there is a specific Bible with all of the accepted truth that Jesus meant to impart, we don't have it.
Literal interpretations of biblical text retranslated from four different languages over thousands of years are the least we can call definitive.
God meant for there to be a continuation of His Word. Catholics think that when Jesus told Peter, you are my rock and upon you I will found my church, whatever you lose on earth shall be loosed in heaven and vice versa justifies the Pope.
Protestants think they can each read the bible and interpret it for themselves.
Either way it get interpreted and understanding it takes more than reading it, it takes prayer. You don't get that by micromanaging people based on isolated bible quotes. It comes from understanding and that requires more than the Bible alone.
At 24 minutes in we learn that the Koran forbids people blocking traffic or the entrance to shops. So those Muslims praying in the street are violating the Koran.

OK, as I understand it there were several battles. Not to mention the movie supposedly will show Washington speaking with the Half King.
None of this speaks to a woke revolutionary Marxist making a film where Washington is genociding half the Indians in Ohio because 1619 project and reasons and then lecturing us America Bad which is what I presume someone like Kelsey Grammer won't be a part of.
I get that we were fighting the Indians back then but the overexagerated leftist narrative that gets shoved down everyone's throats are garbage.
Case in point all the "documentaries" talking about how the slave ships were coming every day into the south. Wrong! In 1808 the US government outlawed slave ships calling US ports. Every slave came before then and it would have been banned earlier except procedurally that was the earliest congress could do so. Only 472K came to North American mainland from outside the US and almost all before the USA was even started.
The USA is the most cruel and evil slave state in the world. Absolute nonsense. The USA is the only nation which allowed slavery where the local slave population grew in number year after year. In the Caribbean they were worked to death, same with South America, in Muslim countries slaves were castrated to become eunuchs. They filled their demand for slaves from Africa.
The movie Django Unchained shows plantation owners killing slaves in the field for no reason and fighting them to death like gladiators and has a bounty hunter deputized by the law lamenting he can't arrest anyone because they are property. In correct, by 1825 it was made illegal for any slaveowner to kill his slaves without a trial or to abandon slaves into the wilderness. Most likely because if anyone did it could cause slave revolts but it was still illegal for what the plantation owner in the movie was doing.
The movie has the plantation owner justifying slavery because black people are the children of Ham, Noah's son who went south. That does not come from America. In Arabia many of the black populations in northern Africa were converting to Islam because the Koran stated no Muslim could be enslaved. So they invented this notion that blacks were inferior because of Ham so they could keep enslaving blacks from the Sahel region of Africa.
Indian tribes were brutal and when they went to war they killed women and children and tortured prisoners. This happened enough that it was one of the main reasons for the attitudes of the early colonials.
It is not right but it is nowhere near what the leftist Marxists portray and the USA in that regards as tyrants were quite frankly amateurs who would rank as an also ran when you start comparing the histories of the rest of the world.
I reject the modern leftist reinventing of history. I see no use whatsoever to the shrill outrage laden slanderous virtue signaling that has become the norm for arrogant clowns in US Academia and Entertainment who quite frankly are trying to memory hole actual history to justify erasing US culture.
They are gaslighting and they can get bent. Tell history as it is warts and all. No need to make a Disney Villain cartoon out of everything and everyone.
@TimWilde16@InterstellarUAP This dating is considered to be problematic as it was taken from fiber at the ends of the shroud. It was in a fire in a medieval church and has had sections repaired so more testing is necessary.
@grok@RepThomasMassie@AIPAC So despite the promise of all the accountability that releasing the Epstein files would bring, not one person not already know was arrested for sexual assault of a minor, correct?
@grok@RepThomasMassie@AIPAC Who has ever been arrested as a result of a law enforcement agency making public all of its research, investigations and evidence collected before that agency has had a chance to complete the investigation and give it to the courts for arrest?
@grok Prince Andrew was know well before the release of the files so I do not believe that counts.
We were told by Massie that this bill would result in arrests and exposure of pedophiles. Many people were embarrassed by their association becoming know but I have not heard on anyone being accused of sexual assault on a minor.
Massie did not invent information however the release of evidence of criminal trials before law enforcement even has attempted to seek warrants has to lead to making it easier for actual criminals to take steps to avoid being caught because they know what evidence has not been found yet or that they were even on the radar. Telling me Massie did not invent it does not change that his actions purposefully interfered with any actual court case that might be filed or may be able to be filed in the future.
AIPAC giving money to politicians does not create that level of interference with out legal system.
The state gathering half truths and releasing it for a salacious mob to review is not accountability. The state gathering information, collecting evidence, executing warrants and then arresting someone does.
Who was arrested and no Prince Andrew does not count. He was known well before this?
@grok Thomas Massie is responsible for the release of a majority of evidence, potential evidence, leads and out right invented propaganda given to the FBI in an attempt to bring accountability to the pedophiles on Epstein Island.
Has the release of this evidence led to anyone being arrested for sexual assault crimes related to these files?
Is it not true that releasing memos Epstein wrote but never sent sitting in his emails such as the one accusing Bill Gates of getting STD's from Russian Hookers and then asking how to give his wife medicine to cure STD's without her knowing it essentially gives Gates and his legal team a head's up to what the authorities know and the ability to better cover up crimes ensuring they will not be arrested?
Given that Thomas Massie authored this for his own propagandist slandering grandstanding is he not worse than any supposed PAC money coming from DA JOOOZ!
@cynthfromjersey@nicksortor If DemonRats get back into power they will do it again. What they did to J6ers is ironically exactly the same things the Brassiji working for the IRGC in Iran have done to their protesters. The only thing missing was the mass executions but these are marxists after all!
What the Iranian people need is the #FirstTen#FirstTenMovement
The First Ten Amendments to the United States Constitution was not based on an ideological philosophy to follow by the Founders of the USA Constitution. It was an acknowledgement of the basic rights granted to every human being by God Almighty as defined by Natural Law.
The right to speak, pray as one believes, defend oneself, one's home belongs to you and not the government, the right to privacy, fair trials in a court of law, and even more.
Iran must overthrow the regime and replace it but no matter who they replace it with they must incorporate these rights in line with their culture into their constitution.
As to those in Iran being attacked for expressing their first amendment rights, they must arm themselves and activate their 2nd amendment rights.
God Bless the People of Iran! Godspeed to you in your quest for freedom!
